Resist Capitalism+Imperialism, Stop the War- Call to action...
Shirts Off Coalition
call to action for weekend of April12-14. Please forward widely...)
The Shirts Off Affinity Group of Washington, DC will be supporting the call for anti-capitalists and anarchists to meet on Sat April 12th as a contingent in the March Against the War on Iraq. We'll meet on Saturday at 12 noon at 7th street and Madison avenue NW in the Sculpture Garden just across the street from the National Gallery of Art (West building). We hope that anti-capitalists, anti-authoritarians, and revolutionaries will join this call to create a sea of hope and resistance for a better world.
The Shirts Off Affinity Group will also be marching as a Revolutionary Anti-Capitalist Contingent in the March Against Military and Economic Intervention in Latin America and the Caribbean. Starting at Malcolm X Park on Sunday April 13th. ?TIME?pm We'll meet at the corner of the park closest too 15th and Euclid Streets. Look for Anti-Capitalist banners and black flags.
While Bush continues his endless war, waging death and destruction on the people of Iraq, sending U.S. troops and bolstering repressive forces throughout Latin America, waging a war on the poor in the U.S., and moving closer to Free trade Agreements in Latin America. A storm is brewing to the South. From Argentina to El Salvador, from Bolivia to Immokalee, Florida, the people of the Americas are rising to challenge US Imperialism and global capitalism.
This weekend, thousands of people from across the United States and Latin America will converge on Washington, DC to stand in solidarity with the people of Latin America as we say: "No to Military and Economic Intervention: Autonomy and Self Determination for Latin America and the Caribbean! Stop the War on Iraq!"
Now is a particularly important time to stand in solidarity with peoples movements in the Americas. It is a time of great repression but it is also a time of great resistance. In Bolivia spontaneous rebellions are erupting in response to structural adjustment programs, in El Salvador health care workers are challenging healthcare privatization with takeovers and blockades, in Argentina the popular assemblies and worker controlled factories continue to blossom, in one of the most significant demonstrations of non-hierarchical organization and resistance to capitalism in recent history. As Anti-Capitalists and Anti-Authoritarians, its crucial for us to support the people of Latin America who are, in many ways, leading the fight against imperialism and global capitalism.
The Shirts Off Affinity Group will be marching as a Revolutionary Anti-Capitalist Contingent on Sat April 12th against the War on Iraq. We'll meet on Saturday at 12 noon at 7th street and Madison avenue NW in the Sculpture Garden just across the street from the National Gallery of Art (West building).
... And in the March Against Military and Economic Intervention in Latin America and the Caribbean. The rally starts at 11am at Malcolm X Park on Sunday April 13th. We'll gather to march 30 minutes before the march leaves, meet at the corner of the park closest too 15th and Euclid Streets. Look for Anti-Capitalist banners and black flags.
On the 13th, we'll march respecting the LASC call for a non-confrontational march, and encourage all those interested to take direct action at other points during this weekend and during the mobilization. In particular we encourage autonomous direct action on strategic targets in the capital of the war machine on Monday April 14 in Solidarity with the LASC call.
We invite all those down with Revolution, and an end to the state and capitalism to join us in these marches. Check out our points of unity:
*For Struggles of Liberation and Against Imperialist War!* *Pro-Community, Anti-Capitalist!* *For Creativity, Direct Action and Visible Resistance!* *For Revolution, Against the State!*
*For Struggles of Liberation and Against Imperialist War!* *We are in total opposition to all imperialist wars, which are waged for economic superiority, the exploitation of labor and the resources of a foreign land, and the repression of dissent. We are equally opposed to wars intiated by a state communist regime, a state capitalist regime or a religious fundamentalist regime. However, we believe that people who are fighting against oppression have a right to self-defense and a right to resist their oppression by any means neccessary. We support oppressed peoples' struggles for liberation from colonization, domination and exploitation.
*Pro-Community, Anti-Capitalist!* *We are anti-capitalist, and denounce all forms of exploitation and oppression, including sexism, racism and hetrosexism. We reject a system driven by an exploitative logic that sees and treats human beings as tools and machines, ecosystems as resources, and culture as simply a commodity. We reject the idea that the world is only valuable in terms of profit, competition and efficiency. We assert a worldview based on the respect of our differences and the autonomy of groups, individuals and all peoples to determine their own liberation.
*For Creativity, Direct Action and Visible Resistance!* *Respecting a diversity of tactics, we use a variety of creative initiatives, ranging between popular education to direct action to make resistance visible. We will not allow the state to dictate or control our forms of resistance.
*For Revolution, Against the State!* *We are revolutionaries, and stand in defiance of the current political system. We are anti-authoritarian, use consensus decision making and are non-hierarchical.
