City- Wide DIe-In

we need to have a more visible and thus more effective die-in this sunday- one that's city-wide. die- ins have been perhaps the most serious and obvious reminder of exactly what 'liberation' means to the people of iraq. because of the gravity of the message we are trying to send, this project is going to require a lot of support and participation from every concerned person in portland, even if it's only for a few minutes...
we need to have a more visible and thus more effective die-in this sunday- one that's city-wide. die- ins have been perhaps the most serious and obvious reminder of exactly what 'liberation' means to the people of iraq. because of the gravity of the message we are trying to send, this project is going to require a lot of support and participation from every concerned person in portland, even if it's only for a few minutes we ask that wherever you are next sunday at three-o-clock (preferably somewhere in the public eye, though) you suddenly just 'drop dead'- even if it's just for only fifteen minutes, and then you can go back to whatever you were doing. it's essential that you have something to identify why you are doing what you're doing- such as a sign that says "one more liberated iraqi" or something incredibly brilliant like that... to make this work we're going to need a lot of people to commit!

be sure to add charcoal and blood make-up for effect and bring a coffee can of oil to set on fire. downtown pdx may start to resemble bagdad powerful images . . .

I've got some public eye for you. Next sunday at the Convention Center its the Summer Camp Fair, lots of families pouring into the Convention Center to plan little Jimmy's summer activities. Will anyone go die-in with me there, because I am NOT doing it by myself and I'm tired of entertaining the camera crews downtown. RSVP.

I really like this idea. I think it should happen EVERY day at a specific time... like 12:00pm every day.... until the war ends.

It might be interesting for everyone to make a little note or ID tag saying something like "Iraqi Civilian - killed 3/25/03 in Basra" or something. We did ID tags like that for the last die-in and I really think it helped the onlookers. It makes it real and it also contextualizes. It also helps us remember who we're representing...keeps us going.
