My name is Tommy Welch. I am a singer/songwriter activist who is part of a Colorado based socio-political punk rock band called Raised Under Reagan. My fiance has a job offer that is too good to refuse in Portland, so I am taking a temporary sabbatical from the band in order to facilitate the move. In the meantime I hope to continue my endeavors in the "music as activism" arena by returning to the solo acoustic folk/punk project I was working on before the band. I am looking for contacts (other musicians, venues, activists, organizations, etc.) in the Portland area. I am willing to be an active participant in rallys and demonstrations with or without the guitar. Additionally, I am a fairly good graphic artist and am willing to volunteer my services to the cause. Attached are some examples of some designs for promotional buttons I have done for Raised Under Reagan as well as an MP3 of our song, "Pride". Pride (Lyrics by: Tommy Welch - Music: Tommy Welch & RuR)

"One nation under God" The biggest lie resides inside our white-washed pride. Our myths, our tales, they never fail. The ethnocentric winds that fill our sails. Let the hands of propaganda be your guide.

I can't believe the webs we weave in school. The coup d'etat starts circa 1492. Our history's been painted white Ever since Adam's first bite You wanna' taste the real forbidden fruit? Your Christ was much less white than me or you.

On Thanksgiving Day Let us bow our heads and pray. "God is great and God is good Let us thank him for our food." Our red-skinned friends provide the feast. We'll give them murder and disease. Would you pass the smallpox, please?

Oh say can you see the mushroom clouds up in the air? The stars and stripes are flying high. It's the Land of the Free. That's the bridal gown we wear But the guests all know we should not be wearing white.

"Liberty and justice for all." We heroify our leaders as we deny our faults. When we romanticize our history We epitomize back-handed bigotry. Perpetuate the lie. That God is on our side. Long live America At least we've got our pride.
