Portland Peace Encampment releases statement of purpose

Portland Peace Encampment releases statement of purpose
"We are the Portland Peace Encampment. A diverse group of individuals building Community to demonstrate our rights as peoples to speak and gather together. We are the voices and the faces supporting non-violent resolutions in solidarity with world community. We will maintain a 24 hour presence until American bombs stop dropping."

The members of PPE would like to extent their deep heartfelt thanks to everyone that has supported them emotionally or with supplies, honked horns, big smiles, and warm bodies. They want everyone to know that their spirits are very high because of all of the incredible support they have received.

Some special requests:
- Waterproof things (especially umbrellas), warm food, warm drinks, warm soup.

- Documentation: a loaned or donated videocamera would be an amazing gift. Or bring your own video or still camera and document yourself.

- Contact Vera Katz and other city council members and thank them kindly for allowing the Portland Peace Encampment to continue. Encourage them to go visit the campers.

- Anyone with contacts at downtown churches that may be willing to allow respite sleeping or a place to briefly warm up and catch some z's is very desired.

Thank you to everyone! This is an amazing non-violent action! Even the feds are catching on.

please elaborate: what do you mean "even the feds are catching on"?

Thanks and keep up the good work!

I think they're referring to the people who work in the Federal building next door. I'm assuming some are or are becoming supporters.

HELP NEEDED!!!! 24.Mar.2003 23:43

We would really appreciate you e mailing and calling Mayor Katz' office as well as City Commisioner Eric Sten, who voted for the anti war resolution that failed, and let them know what a good job they are doing.

They have been recieving criticism for NOT cracking down harder on us. I REPEAT give them verbal praise, and mention the peace camp. That would help us out a lot.

Alex Zeisberg(police name:bam-bam) guitarfreak2910@aol.com

Hello i am a camper at the plaza park. The feds are acuttaly the homeland security. Also the security i think thereton me this morning at around 5am. The other person that heard it said that maybe it was a warning but whatever. I dont know.

If anyone could donate some money to alex Zeisberg down there i need it. If you give me enough i could make you a video of my footage. I will be editing it hopefully next monday. And will bve done by next fri. Also i have cops hurting people on tape for NO REASON!! So for you people that dont beleive me its TRUE!!! The police are very very violent. I need 5 bucks so i can get a wire to hook up to my TV so I can make tapes from my camcorder to my TV. Then everyone could have a tape. If i get more and you would like a video I am curently trying to seel them for say $1.00. The money will be for my editing on my own time and for buying the tapes to record on to. Well thanks alot
