CENSORSHIP

yellowtimes.org content removed
YELLOW TIMES STSTES THE FOLLOWING
"Important!

YellowTimes.org was shut down yet again yesterday. We posted pictures
of Iraqi civilian casualties and American POWs and we were shut down
due to "inappropriate graphic content." After censoring the pictures, we
were allowed to put our site up back again.

YT was perhaps the first Internet site to post the pictures, early on
Sunday morning. To see the pictures, visit this URL:
 http://www.yt.org/article.php?sid=1199

Then, take a look at our News From the Front section to see why we were
shut down, along with why we decided to post these pictures. That
section can be reached at:
 http://www.NewsFromtheFront.org "

THE RAVAGES OF THE DOGS OF WAR ARE CENSORED. BUT IF YOU LOOK THE HORRORS ARE AVAILABLE ON THE INTERNET.

you've got to expect setbacks like the shutdown of yellowtimes.org.

if they are slick and organized they will be relocated to a new server within 24 hours.

may i suggest a canadian or european server?

Site Shut Down 24.Mar.2003 21:01

Just Curious

The two urls listed bring up a YellowTimes Domain suspended page. I'd be interested to know who the ISP is that shut them down. I think that would be useful information for people to have.

lets hear it for fascism! 24.Mar.2003 21:05

not surprised

i went to the links and it said that the site has been suspended...yeah, free speech alive and well in america....i'm so glad that someone is looking out for what is right for me to see...i woldnt want to corrupt my young innocent american sheltered mind...

Yellowtimes.org netblock owner: 24.Mar.2003 21:30

anonymous coward

Someone asked who yellowtimes.org's ISP was. Their ISP isn't necessarily relevant, since there are thousands of companies that do web hosting. The company that does web hosting for yellowtimes.org is Vortech, Inc.

not censorship 24.Mar.2003 22:01

first amendment

Yellow times's webhost is indeed vortech...and vortech's conditions for hosting a site on their server are clear -- no "obcene" materials, and they reserve the right to determine what's obscene. Look it up here http://www.vortechhosting.com/aup/ if you don't belive me. And it's not censorship. Only the government can censor -- Vortech, or portland indymedia for that matter, can decide what they'll allow on their servers. Don't like it? Get your own server or a new ISP.
