I know adrenelin runs high at these protests, but the cops need to keep their fucking heads on straight. They are armed with cop cars (i.e., battling rams), pepper spray, tear gas, batons, and rubber bullets. They can do much more damage to us than we can to them (in most situations). The cop may have been pissed that he was being blocked, but there is really no excuse for what he did in this situation. He hardly slowed down at all. I was there. I caught in on tape. I know people will write that the protester "deserves what he gets" but this is really fucked-up logic. The kid deserves to be killed or hurt for trying to block the interesection so we can march through? Hell no. There is absolutely no excuse. If you think that there is, become a cop. (Or, better yet, get a psychological evaluation b/c anyone who wants to be a cop has serious psychological problems to begin with.)
