The Battle for Minds is Lost - Now the Battle for Hearts Begins

The governments could not win the battle for the brains of the population - the evidentiary material was too thin. Now they struggle for the hearts of people and construct a horror scenario as a justification for war. Suicide attacks are entirely possible. Now the population should forget its doubt about war out of fear of such attacks. Translated from the German in: die tageszeitung, 2/14/03
The Battle for Minds is Lost - Now the Battle for Hearts Begins

British and US Governments Foment Terror Hysteria

If one believes the governments in Washington and London, the US and Great Britain soon face destruction by a terrorist attack - perhaps tomorrow when the Muslim holiday ends. The CIA and the FBI warn that the US could be attacked with chemical and nuclear weapons, actually conventional weapons contaminated radioactively. No horror seems incredible or implausible enough. In London, tanks are set up before Heathrow airport because al-Qaida has smuggled a mobile Sam 7 - anti-aircraft missile in Great Britain according to a "reliable local source". John Reid, the chairperson of the Labor Party, said on Wednesday London faces an attack similar in magnitude to the attack that killed thousands of persons in New York. Yesterday he retracted the warning. He actually only wanted to emphasize that the immense security precautions were not merely a propaganda exercise.

Strong aversion against the war plans increases in the populations of both countries. The governments are opposed. Because the evidence for a connection between the attacks of September 11 and Saddam's regime in Iraq are lacking, they want to produce this connection with the aid of tricks in the heads of the population. This works. Nearly half of those interviewed in the US and Great Britain believe that at least one if not all the assassins of September 11 were Iraqis. Perhaps the US-British propaganda machine will even make people believe that Ussama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein are identical.

The slight hitch with the British government's dossier about Iraq's weapon arsenal praised by Colin Powell as "excellent evidence" but revealed to be a plagerism of outdated papers is a hint of how far the two governments are ready to go. Nervousness is proper since Ussama Bin Laden in his tape-recorded address is said to have urged all Muslims to be suicide assassins in Great Britain and the US. In reality, he only praised the martyrs.

The governments could not win the battle for the brains of the population - the evidentiary material was too thin. Now they struggle for the hearts of people and construct a horror scenario as a justification for war. Suicide attacks are entirely possible. Now the population should forget its doubt about war out of fear of such an attack.
