SOS Alliance does not accept the budget as it stands, according to bill 5100. Nor do we accept transferring money from other sources such as education and public safety. Our position is that human services must be restored to AT LEAST the level set at the end of the last biennium. We have to sustain the sit in for at least a few days, until they get tired of us interrupting everything they do except work on solutions for people's survival. They won't get much else done with us sitting on thier desks clapping and singing, blocking up the doorways, the elevators, and dramatizing our images everywhere underfoot.
Beyond whatever media coverage we can garner, we will be broadcasting our vigil with digital cameras through web links worldwide.
Please bring your own food and supplies for an overnight stay. We plan to be able to go home successfully when Oregon's liffe sustaining services are restored.
No one will lose thier subsidized housing for peaceful civil disobedience. According to Legal Aid Services. Such activity is considered simply a misdemeanor. The Capitol troopers are aware of our plans to stay overnight, and though they're bound by their proffessional rules to remove us from nonpublic areas when there are complaints, they are only required to move us to public areas. They're happy we're coming. After hours, they will follow directions from the legislative administrator and our supporting legislators to keep us from beingput out in the cold on the front steps overnight.
Please also keep writing and calling to your legislators,, both in the house and the senate. it's more important than you might think.
They're beginning to freak out in the capitol about the mess they've made. We've been in there all week and listening. There have already been three confirmed suicides, and some of the legislators are calling the situation blackmail. They're asking us what to tell their constituents now that they can't get get life sustaining medications and care survices. We're giving the legislators our SOS Alliance, and suggesting they send their constituents to us! And we are organizing them to participate as they can, of course!

Sleeping on the door steps of the army of salvation
