Once again, the PPS Student Activist Alliance is meeting Tuesday, Oct. 29, at the Red and Black cafe at 5:00. All high school student activists and members of the press are welcome to attend.
The PPS Student Activist Alliance is a coalition of high school activist clubs and affinity groups dedicated to educating the student population on school issues such as military recruiters and idea censorship, national issues such as the USA PATRIOT ACT, and global issues such as the FTAA and war. Its secondary goal is to involve students in the world of activism and getting them to act on these issues. There will be represenatives from Lincoln, Cleveland, Wilson, so if you attend one of these schools, try to find out how to get involved in your local activist club chapter. Also present will be Franklin, Grant, and MLC, but if you are from one of these schools, we could use more people, so come to this meeting.
To all you lazy-ass poser-activists who are reading this: redeem yourself! Get off your couches, stop whining, and do something about it - you know who you are.
Solidarity, the Student Alliance

Way To Go Students 28.Oct.2002 06:40

I am thrilled to see a movement for social justice erupting in our schools. I teach at a local high school, and I helped students form a social justice alliance at the school three years ago. Today, our club boasts up to 30 dedicated members, and our meetings have yielded some terrific activities. My students have reported back to me on the meetings at the Red and Black, and again, I am just plain excited.

We are tentatively organizing a showing of "This is What Democracy Looks Like" to be shown at our school later in November to commemorate the 3 year anniversary of the WTO protests in Seattle. More news on that later.

But to all you students out there....

great work.
