October 22nd March Against Police Brutality=Success

This year's October 22nd March Against Police Brutality went well. We wish to thank everyone who attended, and hope to see you Friday. One point of clarification is in order here: The march was intended to be a "wear black" event not because of a "radical" or "anarchist" mindset (although I won't deny that that element was both present and welcomed with open arms), but because it was intended to be symbolic of a "funeral" march. Here is the account:

The police presence was (justifiably) non-existant. Nobody got jacked up or fucked with, except on two occasions when motorists tried to push their way through the crowd instead of wating two fucking minutes for the one-block-long mass to go by. One was a woman (single-occupant) in either a minivan or small SUV, the other was a woman in a dark red sedan (I think). Nobody was hurt in these instances, however, and the march continued unhindered.
We walked from the pavillion at the South Park Blocks straight down to 3rd avenue, where we turned right and headed up past the Federal Building and stopped in front of the Justice Center. Once the crowd had fully arrived at the Justice Center, we participated in a "die-in" in which everybody lay down on the ground and pretended to be dead. This was a symbolic act intended to represent all the people wrongfully murdered by police here in Portland and around the world. We then got up and marched up and around the park and congregated in the courtyard at City Hall. Many of us entered City Hall at this point and made our presence known. We then massed outside to hear some more speakers, among them Alan Graft, an attorney involved with a lawsuit against the city for police misconduct. After the speakers finished, we did a bit of chanting and marched back to the South Park Blocks, where my story ends as I was unable to continue. I saw them head north and east from there, and that's alls I know. Here are some pictures from the die-in.

Was There

After our return to the South Park Blocks we headed to Pioneer Square and made some noise, and finished off the evening by invading Pioneer Place. Eventually the mall was evacuated and locked up, with guards at every door. Although I can't confirm this, apparently the drums were confiscated. At one point some protesters re-entered the mall through an employee entrance.

drummer

I was one of those with the drums at the rally, we broke off from the march before it reached pioneer place and put the drums away.

I hate to burst your balloon, but the mall didn't get "evacuated."
You all are so incredibly stupid.
Thanks for the laugh morons.
