I was thinking about the remarks of George Tennet and other intelligence officals talking about how invading Iraq could lead to Hussein's use of weapons of mass destruction against the United States. So, here's a short-term prediction of how I think it will go down.
Bush will get approval from the senate to go to war, which will begin immediately thereafter since we already have massed so many soldiers in the area.
Hussein, having no reason to not use whatever weapons of mass destruction he has will use them, against the United States if he has the delivery systems (less likely) or against neighboring states (read: Israel) if he does not (more likely).
In the face of these actions, the administration will adopt a "we told you so" attitude, showing that Hussein did have a desire to use these weapons.
They will neglect to mention that Hussein's entire career, like most politicians, has been one of opportunism and self interest, and would not have used these weapons except in a situation where he had nothing left to lose (like the situation he'll shortly be facing).
And I'm left to wonder, if there are still humans on this planet in 200 years, what will they think of us... Or perhaps they won't, because, as Einstein said, "I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones."
