Angel Kelly; I take it we have no permit? 09.Oct.2002 17:26

We are going to do the reverse of last Saturday, this time exercising our constitutionally given right to gather and express or dissent and discontent with our elected representative's decisions as to what we believe. Our representatives, or more to the point, Senator Gordon Smith, have decided in his wisdom to interpret our desire to not allow the pResident to wage WAR in our name is misguided and he votes to give the pResident the ability to declare war in the Middle East. I am listening live to the Senate debate and I have never been so impressed by the passion that is being expressed by some that others would call conservative. I find myself admiring Senator Byrd, even though his basic views do not jibe with mine, he is an honorable man who questions the fast-trac push to approve the resolution to give Bush the right to declare war. And for what?......... a pipeline to connect the Red Sea to the Persian Gulf, built by texans, weakening the control of Saudi Arabia of middle-east oil? This is worth "collateral damage" of 10,000 or more body bags? Count me in, I will be there to march with you, even if it is considered civil disobedience.

'a pipeline to connect the Red Sea to the Persian Gulf, built by texans, weakening the control of Saudi Arabia of middle-east oil'

What a provacative name for such a serious post........... My background; father was an electronic engineer who developed and designed gas chromatography instrumentation for the major oil corporation's exploration efforts. I, like Tom Robbins, divorced my family and rebelled in the late 60's ealry 70's, giving up all his empire. Consider also that the oil barons want to connnect the Black Sea to the rest of the world to shipping, eliminating the Straits of Boshporus(sic?) from the picture. Iraq also borders Turkey.......... Will you walk along side me this Saturday, pledge to watch my back, I'll protect yours?
