Presentation at the Technical University of Clausthal
Provided below is a thought provoking Video lecture on "Peak Oil": the consequences of a world culture dependent on fossil fuels and the obstruction of these facts by the Oil Industry and Corporate sponsored Governments. Presented by C.J. Campbell.
Mr Campbell is a Geologist and has been studying oil resources since the 1960's. His lecture outlines how our use for oil will one day soon "peak" and oil production will slow. The resulting transition to a world without these energy resources will add to growing geo-political tensions as in the "mad max" scenario that some have speculated. While this does not mean that Oil supplies will 'run out' it does mean that our reliance on fossil fuels along with our 100 year old civilization built on them will come to a standstill until new energy systems are discovered and implemented.
While his science based predictions are dire his end conclusions are not without hope. He suggests that it could result in an end of the population explosion as well as a world whose detrimental effects on the environment are subdued to sustainable levels.

On a related note:
Since 2000 over 400 military, corporate and government witnesses have come forward to testify that certain compartmentalized sectors of the US military (with sponsorship from corporations) have been keeping advanced or "exotic", non-polluting energy systems secret from the general public. It is the opinion of these whistle blowers that such energy systems should be giving to the public sector to ease the deleterious effects of our culture on the environment instead of keeping them secret for the unknown purposes of the corporate sponsored military industrial complex.
