David Barsamian Appearing September 4, 2002

Author and alternative Radio producer/host David Barsamian sees the corporate-dominated media as a major cause for America's disturbing attitudes. Through self-censorship and blatant self-interest, our so called free press has become an accomplice in keeping the truth from the American people, serving as cheerleaders to the Bush agenda.
Americans find themselves in a unique moment in history. The United States is the sole superpower and is using that status to wage direct and proxy wars around the globe to protect and advance corporate interests. At home, the U.S. economy continues to be shaken by the latest corporate scandal and conditions for most working families continue to decline. Despite all this, most Americans remain strangely complacent about the world around them.

Join David in an informative and entertaining evening examining the ways in which the American media, including so called public broadcasting" shapes public opinion and promotes corporate interests. David will be exploring the media's role in U.S. involvement in Afghanistan, the Middle East, and elsewhere. David is kicking off his national United States of Amnesia Tour in Oregon to encourage this important discussion and to highlight his latest book, "The Decline and Fall of Public Broadcasting.

Working for REAL change

With "leaders" like him, we'll never transform this fascist Bushit tyranny.

I've heard Barsamian speak last time he was in town. Good content, entertaining delivery, a strong message against the Corporate establishment, and he specifically targets National Public Radio for their hypocrisy and corporate metality.
OK. What am I missing? It really would be nice if you wish to communicate neagtively about someone that you would give some information concerning how you arived at these conclusions.
Without any specifics, your post was a waste of time.
If there is another side to Barsamian, don't you think it would be a good idea to educate some of us who are presently in ignorance of this situation?

I think Echimen and "real change" are either 03.Sep.2002 14:31

actually working for actual real change

a) employees of NPR
or
b) "bushit" artists

Working for REAL change

What marketing of "alternative" media!

explain please 03.Sep.2002 22:19

This isn't corporate media, catchy slogans and meaningless sentences don't convince people. If you desire to communicate with others you ought to explain yourself.

Barsamian has some pretty good interviews with Chomsky, these criticisms are wholly unsubstantiated and are probably just meant to try and disuade people [i.e. the same person who posts all the annoying things about how protesters ought to be pepper sprayed]

That said.... Support independent media and thinkers!

So disappointing to see these slurs about Barsaminan. Wake up please and get moving. Go to hear him speak. Time is running short.
