As Northwesterners, we want plentiful wild salmon, renewable energy, and a healthy economy. However, our shared vision of a future with restored salmon runs and clean energy is at risk.
The Bush Administration, through the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA), faces a financial crisis of its own making. In response, BPA is proposing to either raise rates slightly or cut the very programs you care about: salmon restoration, renewable energy, and energy conservation. The increase would only be $1-3 more on a monthly electricity bill to maintain these investments. Come to the Portland hearings to stand up for your vision of our region — salmon and clean energy. Tell the BPA that funding for sustainability should be a top priority, a priority too important to be sacrificed on the chopping block!
