August 3 & 4, 2002 is the 4th annual Trek for Trees fundraiser for CFD and we need your support! Join us for this fun event!
Not only is Trek for Trees a good way to promote sustainable transportation, its a fundraiser too!
We will be riding our bikes from Eugene to Winberry Creek and back over 2 days (about 65 - 70 miles round trip). Contact us if you're interested in riding or to pledge a donation for someone that is.
Trekkers meet at 9:00am on August 3 at the EWEB Fountain on the river bike path (500 E 4th Ave, Eugene). We will be camping next to Winberry Creek and will return to Eugene the next day.
There will be a support vehicle to carry your gear. All-vegeatarian meals and campfire entertainment will be provided. There will be optional trips to area timber sales including Winberry, Berry Patch and Brush Creek. Pledge forms are available at the CFD office and several local businesses including most bike shops (C.A.T., Paul's, etc.). If you can't participate please contact us to make a pledge/donation for someone that can! See you on the path!
Cascadia Forest Defenders is an all-volunteer group dedicated to forest defense and preservation, with a concentration on the Willamette and Umpqua National Forests. We depend on donations and support from citizens and local businesses to keep our campaigns running. Trek for Trees is our annual fundraiser and without it, we would not be able to operate. CFD participates in direct action campaigns, including tree-sits. We conduct rare species surveys, timber sale monitoring, lead hikes, and study forest ecology. We also continuously challenge the patriarchal system that seeks to destroy our forests. Several CFD campaigns are on-going including Fall Creek (4+ years) and Winberry ( 3 1/2 years). Contact us if you want to participate in Trek for Trees or if you can help out in the forest!
