The Senate vote on Yucca Mountain is rapidly approaching and could happen
as early as June 9th. This weekend, take the time to call Senator Gordon
Smith and leave him a message urging him to vote "NO!" on Yucca Mountain.
Call again Monday or Tuesday.

This past week, Senators Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and Jean Carnahan (D-MO)
both announced that they would oppose Yucca Mountain. Carnahan issued a
statement saying,"I don't want Missouri to become the nations nuclear
Stabenow's statement, issued Monday said, "I find it disturbing that the
DOE's Final Environmental Impact Statement (Final EIS) describes barging
nuclear waste on the Great Lakes as a transportation option...I cannot
support any plan that would include a transportation option that
endangers 1/5th of the world's fresh water supply, and the source of safe
drinking water for the entire Great Lakes region."
With the vote nearly here, it is important that that we continue to make
our voices heard above the industry-sponsored pro-Yucca propaganda. Most
of our Senators are at home this holiday weekend. Call and voice your
concerns over the reckless and irresponsible proposal to transport 77,000
tons of lethal high-level radioactive refuse on our roads, rails, and
