Would US gov sacrifice US citizens?

The soldiers in the photo above, were so close to the atomic detonation, they had to be seated on the desert floor, or the blast and shock wave would have knocked them down. The men were not provided any protection from the heat, blast, radiation, or radioactive fallout known as "Death Dust." Seconds after the explosion, radioactive sand, rocks, and dust covered the men. Neither the Department of Defense nor the Atomic Energy Commission provided dust masks to keep the men from breathing radioactive particles. The decontamination process, was a guy with a broom sweeping the radioactive dust from the soldiers uniforms.

Many fallout victims express the feeling they were used as guinea pigs. Most were never told about possible radiation hazards, or were told that there was not enough radiation to cause concern.
