9.11 investigation

What Russia and the other world intelligence agencies knew in advance about 9-11

EXCLUSIVE! First on IndyMedia. This is the most shocking expose yet of what the world's intelligence agencies knew ahead of time about the 9-11 attack - and how the US repeatedly refused to accept the evidence. Here, for the first time, is the identity of the power group behind the attack - first hinted at in Pravda July 12-13, with assets of $300 TRILLION and how the attack is being used to "legitimize" a global world dictatorship. Heavily-documented.
What Russia and other countries knew about 9-11
2002 by Jim Moore, from the forthcoming book "Big Oil - Big War: The true story of September 11, 2001 and the 'War on Terror' - Writer's Club Press: San Jose, New York, Lincoln, Shanghai.
One cannot look at the advanced knowledge of the September 11 attack without looking at what was known by foreign intelligence agencies, especially the Russians. Intelligence agents, and agencies, around the world that had foreknowledge of 9-11 were first puzzled when the US refused to accept their information.
Later, when the attack took place, they were outraged, especially when they perceived the attack to be a "justification" for US expansionism and "containment" not only of so-called "hostile" governments, but even of friendly ones.
It is for that reason perhaps that so many intelligence agents from so many nations have cooperated in the preparation of this book. To my knowledge, none of the information provided to me is classified; in fact, some bluntly told me they did have classified information that "would prove, beyond any shadow of a doubt, that the US not only knew this would happen, but allowed it to happen" but that they "were prevented from providing those documents" because they still wished to honor their profession.
For the most part, however, they steered me to thousands of documents and news reports, which are public knowledge or can be accessed by a journalist. This information has been freely offered by agents from Russian, French, German, various Arab nations, and even US intelligence agencies, who are the most upset.
Anatoli Kornukov, commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy, made it quite clear that he himself had advance knowledge of the attack plans, as stated in this Pravda article:

Russian Navy Chief says he had advance knowledge
"Generally it is impossible to carry out an act of terror on the scenario which was used in the USA yesterday". This was said by the commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy, Anatoli Kornukov. "We had such facts too", (emphasis added)- said the general straightforwardly. Kornukov did not specify what happened in Russia and when and to what extent it resembled the events in the US. He did not advise what was the end of air terrorists' attempts either.
But the fact the general said that means a lot. As it turns out the way the terrorists acted in America is not unique. The notification and control system for the air transport in Russia does not allow uncontrolled flights and leads to immediate reaction of the anti-missile defense, Kornukov said. "As soon as something like that happens here, I am reported about that right away and in a minute we are all up", -said the general. (Pravda - 18:50 2001-09-12)
Specific Russian information had been provided to the Americans in March, 2001 - many months before the attack, according to Jane's Intelligence Review:
US ignored Russian report on bin Laden: Janes
NEW DELHI: Janes Intelligence Review has said that though a Russian intelligence report on Al-Qaeda had been leaked in March this year the United States had opted not to act.
"Back in March Moscow's Permanent Mission at the United Nations submitted to the Security Council of the world body an unprecedentedly detailed report on Al-Qaeda's terrorist infrastructure in Afghanistan, but the US Government opted not to act," said a report in its Intelligence Review.
The report claimed that the Russian intelligence review contained an "astonishing degree of information" which covered the breathtaking extent of intelligence data tabled by Russia.
It also highlighted the extent of the Taliban involvement in drug trafficking.
However, the American Administration did not seize the initiative and act upon the intelligence given (emphasis added), the report said. (Times of India, 8 Oct. 2001)
Russian intelligence knew that there was more than one group involved, and even had information on who they were and details about internal feuds among them. One intelligence source said that the truth was "only hinted at" in the following Pravda article (which could use better translation than its Russian-English translators provided). "Our data to the Americans was much more specific and detailed." Kashmir separatists, set up by bin Laden, apparently did not want to get involved in the American attack, but preferred to concentrate on their guerilla warfare against India. The Japanese Red Army wanted to participate, but wanted the full credit, which resulted in a bitter quarrel with the Lashkar-e-Taiba faction. The Pravda article also hinted at what had been publicly spelled out on Page One in July - there was a huge and secret cabal of elite behind the attack.
Bin Laden was only one terrorist involved
Terrorist groups of the whole world joined in the play with title "That are just we!". Because of wish to be regarded as organizers of terrorist acts in the USA, a Japan "Red Army" quarreled with Islamite group "Lashkar-e-Taiba". Though "Red Army" pretensions were brought to nought by US special services. Kashmir separatists after some reflections decided not to take part in this very dubious competition.
At the same time, in the US Osama bin Laden is being accused. The Saudi multi-millionaire hiding now on Afghan territory is being called one of the most probable requester of the terrorist acts. In addition to Saddam Husain (sic) and other "enemies of the USA number one" of whom there are too many now.
Though it seems to be just an inertia. Bin Laden really does not have enough resources, people and a good organization to fulfill such a great action on US territory. And he does not tell lies while telling it to journalists.
As a matter of fact, the more information about these events comes from the US, the clearer the complete picture is, the better one can see - it is impossible. Where could you find so many elite pilots prepared in special troops and besides suicide pilots? How to organize such a great action while keeping it in secret? How to achieve coordinating activities of terrorist groups with such a high precision?
Only one conclusion could be made: there is a structure which is able to organize actions like that. Though it will never take responsibility, because it does not want to advertise itself. Events of recent 24 hours are enough for advertising. And suspense is even worse than death. (Pravda - 18:45 2001-09-12)
Russia publicly warns of 'an attack on America's financial center'
The July 12 article on the Pravda front page was the most sensational warning, and certainly the most public, of all. It spelled out who, what, where, when and why. Only the "when" was, by some accounts, deliberately misleading by a matter of only a few weeks.
The Pravda article (and a later follow-up) were preceded by some events that should have certainly grabbed the US' riveted attention.
In January 1999, maverick economist Artur Sazonov floated a plan for a "gold-backed ruble," linked to the European Monetary Union currency, the euro.
Komsomolskaya Pravda wrote it up at that time, under the headline, "Why Not a Gold Ruble, Gentlemen? Introduction of New European Currency Makes You Wonder Whether Russia Should Be Going Along With the Dollar."
Sazonov proposed linking the new currency to the euro, not just for the sake of exploiting a putative "euro vs. dollar" rivalry, but to replicate some of the credit and development features of the 1920s arrangements. He proposed that circulation of the dollar inside Russia be banned, and that payment for Russian oil, gas, and other raw materials sold to Europe be accepted only in gold rubles. Komsomolskaya commented at that time, "If the 'golden ruble' idea is adopted, we could print as many ordinary rubles as we like without fear of inflation.... The initial task of the 'gold ruble' would be to squeeze the dollar out of the country, but gradually it would also replace the 'ordinary' ruble." (Executive Intelligence Review, "Russians Anticipate Dollar and Bush Crash" by Dr. Edwin Viera, 27 July 2001)
Outspoken Russian economist Tatyana Koryagina, who has close and free access to Russian President Vladimir Putin, suggested in her testimony to Sergei Glazyev's State Duma hearings on June 29 (Executive Intelligence Review, July 6 and 20, 2001) that holders of dollars will soon be able to use them for nothing but wallpapering their toilet stalls.
On July 4, Pavel Bykov wrote in the financial weekly Ekspert, "The gold chervonets is back in Russia. The Bank of Russia could not have picked better timing for its comeback.... Withdrawing some amount of rubles from circulation and replacing it with chervontsy [plural], minted in the former Soviet Union but unsuitable for any other use since then, is not a bad combination.
All the better, if the chervonets manages to crowd out the U.S. dollar and Russians start using it as an alternative savings currency." The Central Bank's action, according to Ekspert, "shows that the bank is seriously interested in creating a liquid market for the gold coins. After all, a dollar is just a piece of paper, while Russia has always preferred more valuable things...."
The Bank of Russia (Central Bank) acted on July 10, making the gold chervonets legal tender. The coins were minted as prospective souvenirs in 1980, at the time of the Moscow Olympics in the Soviet Union, but the more interesting historical reference point is the 1920s coin, of which the modern chervonets is a replica. That currency was introduced at the initiative of Soviet Foreign Minister Chicherin in connection with the Soviet-German Rapallo agreements, acting at odds with the Versailles Treaty powers. That chervonets was used exclusively for foreign settlements. The revived chervonets is being discussed in the Russian press, as related to the coming crash of the U.S. dollar. Kommersant wrote that the chervonets, taken out of mothballs in the Bank of Russia's depository, may become "a full-blown circulating currency, which the Russians may soon choose as an equivalent for personal savings instead of the U.S dollar."
Clearly, the Russian government was making concrete plans based on its knowledge of "a devastating attack" on the US financial center of New York. These were not just secretive government plans, but were quite public, urging the Russian people to get rid of their dollars now. The refusal of US intelligence to even make inquiries strongly suggests that what the Russians were saying about a "power elite" was true, and US powers preferred to simply ignore it rather than draw attention to it.
Two days later, the July 12th Pravda interview exploded across the front page with all the subtlety of an atomic bomb. The Japanese could not have heralded the Pearl Harbor attack any better had they taken out a full-page ad on Page One of the New York Times.
Tatyana Koryagina made a statement at the end of hearings - as a Russian expert in the shadow economy, shadow politics and conspirology. She is a senior research fellow in the Institute of Macroeconomic Researches subordinated to Russian Ministry of Economic Development (Minekonom). The main theme of the Duma hearings was the rapidly approaching economic crash of the U.S. The hearings focused on preparing recommendations for President Putin as to what Russia should to do to soften the consequences of this coming catastrophe.
Here is an excerpt (emphasis added):
Question. All the participants at the hearings stated that America is a huge financial pyramid, which will crash soon. Still, it is hard to understand how this could happen in the first and richest country of the world - without a war, without missile or bomb strikes?
Koryagina: Besides bombs and missiles, there are other kinds of weaponry, much more destructive ones. . . .
Question: Well, economic theory. But how it is possible for you to give an exact date (for the U.S. crash) - August 19?
Koryagina: The U.S. is engaged in a mortal economic game. The known history of civilization is merely the visible part of the iceberg. There is a shadow economy, shadow politics and also a shadow history, known to conspirologists. There are (unseen) forces acting in the world, unstoppable for (most powerful) countries and even continents.
Question: Just these forces intend to smash America on August 19?
Koryagina: 'There are international, "super-state" and "super-government" groups. In accordance with tradition, the mystical and religious components play extremely important roles in human history' One must take into account the shadow economy, shadow politics and the religious component, while predicting the development of the present financial situation.
Question. Still I don't understand what could be done to this giant country [i.e., the U.S.], whose budget is calculated in the trillions of dollars.
Koryagina: It is possible to do anything to the U.S. . . .whose total debt has reached $26 trillion. Generally, the Western economy is at the boiling point now. Shadow financial actives of $300 trillion are hanging over the planet. At any moment, they could fall on any stock exchange and cause panic and crash. The recent crisis in Southeast Asia, which touched Russia, was a rehearsal.
Question: . . .What is the sense of smashing just America?
Koryagina: The U.S. has been chosen as the object of financial attack because the financial center of the planet is located there. The effect will be maximal. The strike waves of economic crisis will spread over the planet instantly, and will remind us of the blast of a huge nuclear bomb.
Question: Did Russia's crisis of 1998 have this religious-mystical component?
Koryagina: . . .The Russian crisis of 1998 was preconditioned by internal factors. Yeltsin's policy enlarged its consequences. Now we have President Putin, and this is a good choice.
Question: What do we have to do now?
Koryagina: Recommendations, compiled by the Duma Commission of Economic Politics after the recent Duma hearings, offer instruction on what should be done to escape the consequences of a world crisis inspired by a financial catastrophe in the U.S. This document will be sent - or has already been sent - to President Putin.
Question: What should Russian citizens do?
Koryagina: They should start changing their dollars for rubles. President Putin and the Russian Central Bank are already taking the necessary healthy measures. There are high chances that after 19 August the ruble will become a very good currency.
Question: Why 19 August and, say, not the 21st?
Koryagina: Some fluctuation in this date is possible. Serious forces are acting against THOSE WHO ARE NOW PREPARING THE ATTACK ON THE UNITED STATES. August, with very high probability, will bring the financial catastrophe to the U.S. . . .The last 10 days of August have especial importance from a religious-sensible point of view. (Pravda, 12 July 2001)
Lyndon LaRouche, who once was imprisoned and who also ran for president and who is also publisher of the Executive Intelligence Review was not only in attendance, he gave the lead-off speech. Why wasn't US intelligence interested in anything he knew about this bombshell story? Was it because he was considered "poison" to the US establishment for his views that the British monarchy had gained its wealth on the back of illegal drug trafficking, and other "conspiratorial" views of history? Whatever the reason, as one intelligence agent told me, "Even bad intelligence is good intelligence. Don't ever fail to listen simply because you disagree with someone's politics."
Some researchers believe Koryagina deliberately cited a wrong date in order to distance herself from involvement in the upcoming September 11 attack. She was 23 days off the mark. Being that close would hardly provide her any distance. She made reference to "the last ten days of August" having some "religious" significance for those planning the attack, but my research has failed to find what that religious significance might be. Perhaps readers could help.
Could the "conspiratorial" beliefs of LaRouche, coupled with the ominous statements from the Russian economist about what, in effect, amounts to a New World Order run by a private elite with trillions at their disposal, have been such a turn-off? Or was it ignored because it was true and the US was part of it, up to its red-white-and-blue eyebrows?
The details provided on Project Hammer elsewhere in this book may provide the answer.
"The measures Russia should carry out in order to avoid the consequences of the global crisis, triggered by the financial catastrophe in the United States, are described in detail in the document, prepared by the Duma's Economic Policy Committee on the basis of the [June 29] hearings, and conveyed to Vladimir Putin."
Those were the hearings, where Lyndon LaRouche gave the lead-off testimony, on how to organize and finance Eurasian and worldwide economic development, by common action of sovereign nation-states to replace the defunct speculative system.
Moreover, Koryagina suggested that Russian citizens already now should "change dollars for rubles," and gave a nod to the Bank of Russia's latest actions: "I am closely watching the measures taken by the President and the Central Bank. From the standpoint of pre-crisis measures, they are acting properly. It is possible that after August 19, the ruble may become a rather good currency." Gorbachev hopes 'New World Order' emerges from 9-11
There is an interesting footnote, if you will, that involves both this "secretive group" and warnings not to fly. Russian President Vladimir Putin prohibited all top government officials from flying to the United States for a period of three weeks.
On the advise of Putin, Russian officials and prominent citizens Russians have been canceling travel plans to the U.S.
The advisory prompts concerns about whether the Russian government knows of more terrorist attacks planned against America.
Former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev has postponed a U.S. speaking tour at the urging of President Putin's office, citing security concerns, the Palm Beach Post reported Wednesday.
"Russian President Vladimir Putin apparently is prohibiting nearly all government officials from flying to the United States during the next three weeks," the Omaha World-Herald said Oct. 10.
Omaha is another city where Gorbachev has canceled a planned speaking engagement. A spokesman for the Russian Embassy in Washington told the Post he had no idea why Gorbachev's visits were canceled.
Cities on the itinerary included West Palm Beach - near the anthrax infections at American Media Inc. in Boca Raton - and Omaha and Lincoln, Neb.
Gorbachev's booking agents in New York City tried but could not persuade him to go ahead with the trip, the World-Herald said.
Gorbachev also said he hoped that from the present crisis a "new, international world order" would be created. (Emphasis added)
Russia expert Col. Stanislav Lunev said: "It's very interesting and could mean that Russian intelligence received information about new terrorist attacks against America, which could come any time soon and include attacks against U.S. civilian airplanes as well as Americans in the areas which could be visited by Russian and other officials." (NewsMax.com, 18 Oct. 2001)
Of course, Russia was warning of new attacks - on the front page of Pravda. Gorbachev, a "hero" in the West, is most unpopular in his homeland, since Russians accuse him of being the one who sold out their nation to his "New World Order" - wearing the mask of the Russian mafia. During his reign of "glasnost," the Russian economy went to hell and the mafia rose to unprecedented power, aligning itself with people like Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda, selling off nuclear technology, holding the Russian people economic hostage and looting not only Russia, but the billions of dollars in US aid. Under his successor, Boris Yeltsin, Bill Clinton's campaign managers moved in and took over the Russian elections, establishing boozer Yeltsin as a US puppet and enabling him to stash away millions in ill-gotten cash. Putin, his successor, promised he would not prosecute Yeltsin or his daughter, in whose name most of the loot had been stolen. To the Russian people, these were the "benefits" of Gorbachev's New World Order.
EU anti-terrorism chief - 'bin Laden is not alone'
This same feeling was shared by the European Union's chief anti-terrorism officer, Jurgen Storbeck, who said he couldn't believe bin Laden was responsible. Storbeck had access to bin Laden's files from his KLA activity in Kosovo and was most likely aware of his NATO -US partnership.
"Bin Laden is not the automatic leader of every terrorist act carried out in the name of Islam," he said pointedly. "It's possible that he was informed of the operation; it's even possible that he influenced it; but he's probably not the man who steered every action or controlled the detailed plan.
"As for the idea that, sitting in Afghanistan, he could have controlled the last phase of the operation is something we should not accept without a lot of doubt." He said German police, immigration and customs services were playing the key role. This suggests that German authorities may have found evidence pointing in a different direction [from US claims]. He said Europol was giving serious evidence to claims that some form of state sponsorship was involved, but said there was no hard evidence to date. (The Washington Times, 15 Sept. 2001)
"We spelled this out clearly," said my Russian intelligence source. "Because we had evidence it was supra-national, and because the US was being seriously affected by it, we felt the Americans would be interested, but they weren't. We eventually concluded they were, in fact, a part of that same group. I suppose some in your country would refer to it as the New World Order."
If it seems unbelievable that Russian intelligence would work with US intelligence when there is so much espionage going on between each other, consider this recent story:
Russia Warned U.S. About FBI Agent
Its most dangerous spy still operating secretly in its midst, the FBI got a tip that a "disaffected" FBI agent was trying to sell U.S. secrets to Russia.
The unlikely source of the tip was the Russians themselves and it came fully eight years before Robert Hanssen was arrested on charges of spying for Moscow.(Emphasis added)
A federal study on security inside the FBI discloses that Russia formally complained to the U.S. government after Hanssen tried to give U.S. secrets in 1993 to a high-ranking military intelligence officer. (Emphasis added) - (Associated Press, Ted Bidis, 4 Apr. 2002)
"We eventually concluded Hannsen was a double agent," said the same Russian source, "and was being used to feed us disinformation. It was the only way we could explain why the US let him continue for eight years after we filed a formal complaint. We already had reason to suspect his information and felt a complaint would bring it out into the open. It didn't. What with Clinton's China ties, we thought perhaps Hannsen was serving some useful purpose to China."
"Our information about September 11 indicated that there was US involvement somehow; we knew there were US airline employees involved and we knew there were US Office of Naval Intelligence personnel involved." He steered me toward the following Pravda article, with the comment that "we repeatedly warned you, through different channels, not just intelligence and military, but through political channels as well - the Parliament."
Terrorist acts in the USA could not have been organised without the help of US airlines employees (emphasis added), believes Mikhail Margelov, the deputy Chairman of the International Committee of the Federation Council, or the upper house of the Russian parliament. "Armed terrorists wouldn't have been allowed on board the airplanes" unless someone employed in the airlines or airplane security helped them, expressed his view Margelov in a RIA Novosti interview.
"Clearly, these terrorist acts were very well organised from a technical and professional point of view. Individual terrorists wouldn't have coped with this task." At the same time, Margelov thinks it is too early to make conjectures as to who may have organised the acts. "Those who did it are lying low waiting for the US administration to react," he said.
"One of their goals is to push American leaders to rash action." According to Margelov, secret services of Russia and the USA have already launched consultations. "Everyone knows that several years ago, Russia was the one to fall prey to full-scale terrorism," he reminded. (Pravda - 11:27 2001-09-12)
This also was a view widely held by many of the other intelligence agents, no matter what country they represented. Very specific evidence about Hamas activity in specific US airports was conveniently ignored, as were all these other warnings.
David Shippers is not known as a "Bush basher" or "Clinton apologist." He is also not known as a "loose nut" conspiracy theorist. He is known as the attorney who successfully impeached Clinton in the US Congress.
"A friend of mine who happens to be an agent had information that there were Hamas operatives working in baggage and areas at O'Hare Airport with free access to any part of the airport. But no one would listen. They just said it's not true. It can't happen that way. I'll tell you something. I don't know if it was because Clinton and his boys didn't want the United States to realize that Flight 800 was a terrorist attack and that Oklahoma City was a terrorist attack because they didn't want to admit that the intelligence of the United States was totally destroyed." (Alex Jones Show, David Shipper Interview, 10 October 2001)
Shipper's comments about the Bush administration are not what you would expect from the man who impeached Clinton, and his story of another attack being prepared even now in Oklahoma City would stun you. His story is covered in more detail in another chapter.
Indeed, Associated Press reporter Leslie Miller, on February 27, 2002, wrote of 20 people arrested at Logan International Airport (from where two of the hijacked planes departed) for lying to get their jobs or security badges. In December, another 271 were fired from Salt Lake City International Airport after "Operation Safe Travel" revealed they, too, had lied to get their jobs and badges. Similar sweeps and arrests took place at Las Vegas and other cities across the nation. Details on individual cases, though, have been kept quiet, so the public has no idea how many Islamic or other terrorist-affiliated employees might have been involved.
The Western news media reported, as did Pravda (below) that "after the attack" the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (FIS) was "working closely" with US intelligence, but Russian sources who wish not to be named claim this was also the case before the attack - and "the US refused to take our evidence seriously," as evidenced by the second story below.
After the terrorist attack on the USA, Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service /FIS/ has kept in touch with the secret services of the United States and other countries, reported Tatiana Samolis, the press secretary to the FIS director.
"Tragic events in New York and Washington proved the global character of the international terrorist threat and the importance of joint retaliation against it," said FIS Director Sergei Lebedev, commenting on the terrorist attack.
"With that in mind, the FIS keeps in touch with US secret services and with its partners from Western Europe, as well as the Middle and Near East." The main purpose of these contacts, according to Lebedev, is to "expose and prevent new terrorist acts." (Pravda - 11:55 2001-09-12)
The terror acts of last Tuesday are certain to have been committed by international terrorists led by Osama bin Laden. Deputy chairman of the Federation Council /upper house/ defense committee Vladimir Kulakov said as much adding he had no doubt about it.
He believes that in view of the aforesaid terrorist acts, the US foreign policy will be overhauled. "The fact that security measures suggested by Russia and Vladimir Putin in part were not taken in time (emphasis added) must prompt Washington to do so," the senator noted.
In his words, Russia was the first to face the first blow of international terrorism and the US should heed Russia's opinion.
Kulakov added that, in his view, the US foreign policy played a certain role in these terrorist acts. America's foreign policy can be described as freedom to use weapons wherever their interests seem to be infringed upon or unipolar world order can be achieved. (Pravda - 11:37 2001-09-12)
Incredibly, even after 9-11, US intelligence continued to ignore - and still does - yet another Pravda warning from economist Koryagina just days later:
Pravda re-interviewed Dr. Koryagina to get her take on the events of Sept. 11.
Koryagina made the following key points in an article entitled "Who Will Strike America in Its Back?":
New Strikes Will Come. In the near term, she said, "the powerful group" that masterminded the events of Sept. 11 will make new strikes against America -- of a financial nature and otherwise. She said they will "strike America in the back" and bring it down.
She noted that Americans are consolidating around their government and preparing retaliatory strikes against the "terrorists." However, Americans are trembling about spending. When they understand, after the upcoming new strikes, that their government can guarantee them nothing, they will panic -- causing a collapse of their financial system.
Didn't Make Serious Mistake. About her forecast of July 12, Dr. Koryagina said, "I did not make a serious mistake. Indeed, between August 15 and 20, the dollar started trembling under the pressure of multiple bad news about the U.S. and world economy. And within weeks, the Manhattan skyscrapers fell down. As a result, a significant part of the world financial network was paralyzed. This strike was aimed at destabilization and destruction of America and [in domino fashion] all the countries making countless billions of dollars."
The Powerful Group. Who is behind these strikes? Koryagina claims the U.S. is painting a false picture. She said the operation was not the work of 19 terrorists but a larger group seeking to reshape the world. She claimed a group of extremely powerful private persons, with total assets of about $300 trillion, intends to legalize its power and to become the new world government. The Sept. 11 strikes showed that this group is afraid of nothing -- human lives have zero value for them. (Emphasis added)
Koryagina again encouraged Russian citizens to cash out dollars. The Koryagina claims are not easily dismissed, especially her clear indications in the interview before Sept. 11 that the attacks on America's financial system would be of an unusual nature. Her comments also mirrored similar warnings issued by Russian officials.
Still, this story raises other questions. Did the Russian government know in advance and what was their involvement?
On Sept. 28 the Washington Times reported that "U.S. intelligence agencies have uncovered information that Russian criminal groups have been supplying Osama bin Laden and his al-Qaida terrorist network with components for chemical, biological and nuclear weapons."
Of course, the Russian mafia has very close ties with Russia's intelligence agencies. (NewsMax.com - "Russian Expert who 'Predicted' Attacks Warns of New Ones, by Dr. Alexander Nemets, 4 Oct. 2001).
Dr. Nemets is a consultant to the American Foreign Policy Council (AFPC). An expert in Chinese-Russian strategic military alliance development, he has spent the last several years researching Chinese and Russian economic and military issues. Dr. Nemets worked from 1986-92 at the Presidium of Russian Academy of Sciences. He immigrated to the United States in December 1994.
NOTE: The amount of $300 trillion almost exactly matches the amount of money at the disposal of Project Hammer. The description of the group behind Project Hammer also matches precisely. NewsMax.com is a very conservative online news site, which makes no bones of its belief that Russia and China are behind all the world's evils. While the facts they present can be regarded as quite reliable, their articles are so littered with partisan editorial comments (properly belonging on an editorial page) that they lose credibility with the less conservative public which probably needs to know these facts the most, but are turned off by the blatant editorializing. NewsMax.com, in this author's humble opinion, is preaching to the choir, when it needs to perhaps remove the bias and report the facts, thereby reaching an even wider audience. NewsMax.com chooses to ignore any evidence of a "New World Order" that does not fits its agenda, i.e., that Russia and China are the forces behind the NOW. The Russian people are as opposed to this NWO as most informed Americans are. The Chinese do indeed pose a serious nuclear threat in the coming years, and make no attempt to hide their plans to destroy the US with a nuclear war within the next decade or less. This is proven, documented fact, but the media's ignoring of an equal, more imminent and possibly greater threat from the group mentioned above does the public a grave disservice.
The CIA also refused to listen to German spy warnings
In Germany, other high-ranking intelligence officials agree that they, too, were ignored when they tried to pass on warnings to the US. Some of them, too, have hinted at a "larger power" behind the attack, one which merely manipulated Osama bin Laden and his al Qaeda/Taliban machine.
Eckehardt Werthebach is the former president of Germany's domestic intelligence service, Verfassungsschutz, and he is livid about the US "Realpolitik" deceptions.
"The deathly precision and the magnitude of planning would have needed years of planning," he said. In his opinion, it would require a "fixed frame" of a state intelligence organization and not the "loose group" of terrorists led by Mohammed Atta while he studied in Hamburg. Werthebach is particularly unhappy because he sees the US war on terror as a means to "embarrass my country" by focusing on those such as Atta who had lived for a time in Germany. These attacks, he said, were "state organized aations." And he made it clear, without being more specific, that he was not referring to Iraq.
Then there is Andreas von B'low, who served on a parliamentary commission overseeing the three German secret service branches while he was a member of the Bundestag (Parliament) from 1969 to 1994. He wrote a book "Im Namen des Staates" (In the Name of the State) in which he went into some detail about the "criminal activities" of several of the world's intelligence agencies, including the CIA and Mossad. He blames Mossad, saying they did it to influence public opinion against the Arabs to justify a "brutal slaughter" of the Palestinian people. He said this long before that assault actually happened in 2002.
"You don't get the higher echelons," he said, referring to the "architectural structure" behind such attacks. The organization doing the planning is foremost interested in manipulating public opinion. People like Osama bin Laden and Abu Nidal (whom he calls "an instrument of Mossad") are just the "guns for hire."
"The working level - these guns for hire - are part of the deception," he said.
"Ninety five percent of the work of the intelligence agencies around the world is deception and disinformation. Journalists don't even raise the simplest questions. Those who differ are labeled as crazy. ... The BND (German secret service) is steered by the CIA and the CIA is steered by Mossad."
Yet another German chose to go the "novel" route with his fears. Horst Ehmke in the 1970s coordinated the German secret services under Prime Minister Willie Brandt. His novel, Torches of Heaven, published last year (2000) was eerily prophetic, telling the story of Turkish terrorists who crashed a hijacked plane into Berlin.
"I've expected this for a long time, but when I saw the television images, it looked like a Hollywood production. Terrorists could not have carried out such an operation with four hijacked planes without the support of a secret service," he said, but he refused to tell who he suspected.
"The most important thing in the struggle against terrorists, who are abusing religion, is the battle for the soul of the people and the nations. If this isn't resolved successfully, the 21st Century could be bloodier than the last."
The bin Laden-Mossad spy in the CIA
One former Stasi agent (East German secret service) went to his superiors and told them that one of the men he had worked with, who had been higher up in the Stasi than he, a man named J'rgen Rogalla, "is an airplane terror specialist" and, along with Abu Nidal, was most likely involved in the 9-11 attack. He said he knew both had worked for the Mossad all along. Nidal was in Baghdad, "a leading officer for some Mossad agents", and was "involved directly" in 9-11.
"It is part of an old, old plan that will see an even larger attack on the United States. More attacks are imminent and aircraft carriers may the next target. Also, I would expect attacks on cathedrals and synagogues or other religious places. Rogalla is very, very anti-religious."
It was Rogalla who had "turned NATO men" into spies for the East Germans, he said. One of those, Reiner Rupp, had been named "Topaz" and had given the Stasi and the Soviets some of NATO's most prized secrets before he was exposed in 1993 by the BND. He also fingers a CIA agent known only as "Frank Lindsey" is one of Rogalla's spies, providing information indirectly to Osama bin Laden - just as Aldrich Ames had done with Somalian operations. "Frank Lindsey" is still working within the CIA, undetected.
French warnings on 9-11 also ignored
The intelligence "game" is a lot like another game Americans are more familiar with - the professional football game. AFL or NFL opponents may go out on Sunday to kick each other's butt, but by Wednesday, opposing teammates may be packing their gear into an SUV for a fishing trip. Unless they get personal, rivalries stop at the end game whistle. That St. Louis linebacker may have been a Titans linebacker the season before, so the friendships remain, transcending the team titles.
Similarly, during the Civil War, the battles would be fought by day, then at night the troops would cross "enemy" lines to play cards and pick their banjos or guitars. It wasn't unusual to cross lines to talk to relatives - cousins, uncles, even brothers. Late at night, the fire would dwindle to embers and each side would return to their tents and camps to get up in the morning and kill each other again.
Global warfare has been no different. Yesterday's Nazi enemies are today's allies. Look at Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, Vietnam and China. Likewise, yesterday's allies become tomorrow's enemies. Cuba went from friend to enemy in a matter of months. It may not seem like it when the "enemy" is plunging a bayonet into your gut or dropping napalm on your home, but the truth of the matter is "it's nothing personal." At least not to nations. As individuals, it takes a lot longer for the hatred to disappear. After all, our nations condition us, building up the hatred, to turn us into killing machines. It's not as easy for the human animal to turn off the spigot as it is for the nation state.
The problem this New World Order, in all of its proper British formality, has is with nations that don't "get the idea", nations that do take it personally and allow the blood feud to go on for years and years, even centuries. That, to the proper globalist, is so 20th Century, so outdated, that it's an impediment to global progress. Just because my father slaughtered your entire family or put most of your relatives in gulags or concentration camps to die - don't blame me. This is a whole New World. Get the drift?
Likewise, if war is so impersonal, why shouldn't the world of spooks be the same? Like the NFL or AFL, there are a lot of trade-offs. Let's say I'm an American intelligence agent. I have to work both with and against similar agents from many other nations. That, in the spook world, is the definition of "a team player." If you happen to be KGB, this week I might be slipping you a deadly poison. Next week, I might need your help in doing the same to a British MI6 agent. There's a lot of back-scratching going on for the purpose of mutual survival and manipulation. Don't get offended, it's "nothing personal." I'm just following orders. Of course, this doesn't play well on the silver screen or in my memoirs because our James Bonds have to be heroic, not merely convenient furniture. If, and when I ever write my memoirs, you can believe my accounts will be heroic, not mundane stuff like you'd expect from the Foggy Bottom Boys (that's State Department to civilians). But the truth is I'm little more than hired clerical help, a go-fer with a life that is much duller than what you'll read in my memoirs. That's assuming, of course, that I am a spook or that I will write my memoirs, an assumption you'd be unwise to make on both counts. (I deny nothing, I admit nothing - I'd still like to live for a few more years, thank you). There are those, of course, for whom the blandness is the exception, not the rule, but they are in a very small minority. All of those spies whose lives are filled with derring-do make up less than 1% of the tens and tens of thousands of people who actually work for the intelligence agencies of any given country.
Many years ago there evolved a creature known informally as the Gemstone Intelligence Network (GIN). While it said a lot about the drinking habits of the spooks involved, it was actually a more practical means of the back-scratching game. In truth, one could probably not have existed without the other. For lots of reasons, chief among them was the reputation of the bar owner for keeping his/her mouth shut, and the mutually-accepted neutrality of the place, there are certain bars and taverns (the Dew Drop Inn in San Francisco was one such place during the Watergate days) which seem to attract spooks. These are places where they know each other, where they can let down their guard (somewhat) and share a few brewskies while commiserating about the "mindless bastards" who run things upstairs.
Just how GIN got its name I don't know for sure, and some legends are better left unexposed, but it came to be that while sipping gin (or whatever the personal favorite was), one agent would say to another, in effect, "Hey, Ivan, I hear you're looking for a sapphire I just happen to have a lead on." Ivan's eyes would light up for a moment, then cloud over with a guarded shadow because he knew there was always a price to pay. This game is best played with a long history of successful poker playing. OK, he'd grouse, like some recalcitrant camel trader, I might be interested. What's your price? "Oh, I've been looking for a real nice little ruby for the lady, you know, not too big, not too small. Something that would look good in a (ring, pendant, bracelet, whatever)." All of these carefully chosen words were clues that let each other know specifically what they were looking for. The conversation would turn back to the weather or the "shitheads" at the top of the respective bureaucracies and nothing more would be said until it came time to leave. Then the party approached would, depending on his government's "special of the week" policy, say something like, "Drop in on Tuesday and bring that sapphire with you. I'll see what I can do." Come Tuesday, Ivan would amble in with his trade. In the good old days, there would actually be a physical gemstone exchanged - diamond, ruby, emerald, whatever - along with the real prize, often in the form of microfilm or microdot. Agents who played the game had the opportunity to build up a tidy little nest egg of gemstones - the universal currency - which the paymasters knew nothing about, nor did they care to know. To the agent, it was a supplemental retirement package, if they lived that long.
In later years, the whole profession went to hell and the gemstones became no more than a fond memory, replaced by computer discs and cocky young agents who thought they knew it all. If you want to catch the attention, and respect, of the dwindling number of old-timers, you still offer "gemstones." Their eyes light up today more in remembrance of the way things were than in anticipation of any information that might come with it. To offer a "gemstone" is a gesture of respect and tradition that shows you have class and quality. The spies getting caught today with cash and stocks are a disgrace to their profession; offering cash is almost an insult to the old masters of the game.
The GIN still lives, but it has become little more than an old war relic, ignored by the young Turks who pace the halls of Langley and Bonn, their cell phones stuck in their ears and look of omnipotence and all-importance smeared across their faces like some ugly smirk. The young Turks ignore the old network at their peril, for these old-timers have much wisdom they could impart. They know the roots of many of the things taking place today, whereas the Turks know only the cold, impersonal computerized data of today without knowing the framework within which it was created, and continues to live. It's why spymasters such as James J. Angleton, sonofabitch that he truly was, fell out of favor and was banned to his orchid greenhouse and his vast wealth of knowledge died with him.
Once retired, an agent is still called upon for the occasional favor to the agency, and therefore is still kept "in the loop" by his colleagues. That, too, though, seems to be a dying practice and probably the main reason that "intelligence gathering" has fallen on hard times. It's all been replaced by computers and satellites, and there's no room any more for the old ways, where a handshake was a bound contract, even among "enemies." It's why today the CIA and all of its young hotshots can't do shit. If it isn't already in their "databanks" it is of no value. Sort of like, "If I don't already know it, it isn't worth knowing." A far cry from the early days of the OSS when our means of "intelligence gathering" in post-War Germany was to stand on a street corner and interview people passing by (and I have this on the very good word of an elderly gentlemen I've spent time with who used to do exactly that before he got "booted upstairs.")
The older agents, mostly British, French, German and Russian, would be insulted for life if you snubbed your nose at their "gemstone" offers. It was an insult that could get you killed for your impunity - but don't take it personally. Many of those old-timers rose to the tops of their agencies, but even now they have that same contempt for the ways of their younger replacements in the trenches.
So it was with the French in the year before September 11, 2001. The offers were made, though not strictly adhering to good old "gemstone" days of G. Gordon Liddy and company, and the brash youngsters at the CIA, snot still dripping from their noses and still wet behind the ears, looked down their noses and turned away. As a result, if there wasn't US complicity involved, thousands of people died that Tuesday morning in New York and Washington because of youthful arrogance.
Just a month before 9-11, French security had a complete dossier on a certain French-Algerian who had known ties to Osama bin Laden - and an unusual interest in flight training. That young man, 31, was arrested near Boston by the FBI after he was found with several passports, most of them false. The French knew which one was real and offered the US their dossier. No one bothered to call them back. The French, who have never respected the Americans much anyway, took it as a callous snub by the brash "know-it-all" Clinton administration. After 9-11, the old French component of GIN leaked the story to Frederic Helbert, with Europe 1 radio.
"He [the terrorist] was taking flying lessons," Helbert later told UPI, acknowledging he had gotten his information from "sources close to France's counter-terrorism department." "But his instructors thought there was something strange because he was asking so many questions about planes from the big companies and so on."
Helbert didn't (or couldn't because he didn't know) reveal the name of the "flying student," but it eventually became public knowledge - and when it did the story got even stranger.
On August 15, a suspicious flying instructor in Minneapolis at the Pan Am International Flight Academy called the FBI to report his unease with one, Zacarias Moussaoui, whose dream was "to fly a big bird" like a Boeing 747. Moussaoui claimed to be French, but when the instructor addressed him in French, he looked back at him with a blank stare; he didn't understand a word of French. Then he became belligerent and evasive about his background.
"He knew absolutely nothing about flying," the instructor said, "and he had this big wad of money he was flashing around and with his foreign background, it just rang alarm bells. The FBI didn't even want to talk to me."
Minnesota Rep. Jim Oberstar, who was briefed by the school, said the FBI's response was "so bureaucratic" that a less-determined tipster would have given up. Martin Sabo, another Minnesota Congressman, said "From what I've heard, the school was clearly more alert than federal officials." ("Eagan flight instructor wouldn't let unease about Moussaoui rest", Minneapolis Star-Tribune, 21 Dec. 2001)
The FBI did, however, pick him up the next day.
"If you look and you have a person with a bad passport who's trying to learn how to fly a big aircraft - flying bombs, as it were - you really have to think about [whether he's] a loner," said former FBI agent Bill Gavin. "The bell goes off. Could there be somebody else trying to do this, too?" (ABCNews, 20 Feb. 2002)
Local FBI agents in Minneapolis couldn't get any reaction at all from Washington, where the word came down that he could not be connected to any known terror group. That was a lie. Moussaoui had "friends in high places" - very high places, high enough to over-rule both the CIA and the FBI. That could only have come from the US Attorney General or the White House itself.
In early August, the FBI office in Phoenix sent a message to Washington, expressing concern over an unusual influx of Arab students at local flight schools. They were ignored. "They gave headquarters a heads-up and headquarters did not pick up on it," said John Martin, former chief of internal security at the Justice Department.
"Through much of the summer, Tenet [Director of CIA] had grown increasingly troubled by the prospect of a major terrorist attack against the United States... Everywhere he went, the message was the same: Something big is coming... The previous month [Aug 2001], the FBI has asked the CIA and the National Security Agency to run phone traces on Moussaoui [the missing 20th hijacker on Sept 11], already the subject of a five-inch-thick file in the bureau..." (Washington Post, 27 Jan. 2002)
Washington Post, 27 January 2002
What the Washington Post doesn't mention - in this interesting admission that the CIA knew the attacks were coming - is that a special CIA/FBI panel prohibited investigations into Moussaoui's computer before Sept 11. Head of counter-terrorism at the FBI, John O'Neill, resigned last August in protest of efforts by the Bush administration to block DBI investigations into bin Laden.
Let's remember what the US intelligence officer in Canada said 'Let one happen. Stop the rest',
Moussaoui's computer
efforts by the Bush Administration to block FBI investingations into bin Laden.
"Jean-Charles Brisard, who wrote a report on bin Laden's finances for the French intelligence agency DST and is co-author of Hidden Truth, met O'Neill several times last summer. He complained bitterly that the US State Department - and behind it the oil lobby who make up President Bush's entourage - blocked attempts to prove bin Laden's guilt." (Irish Times, 19 Nov. 2001)
Irish Times, 19 Nov 2002
"The main suspect in US custody .... had been picked up by immigration authorities in August but the FBI refused to let its field agents search his laptop computer which contained clues as to the September 11 mission....." (London Times, 3 Nov. 2001)
London Times, 3 November 2001]
On Aug. 21, the FBI asked that two known al Qaeda terrorists be put on a border watch list, then were horrified to learn they were already in the country. "That's a big clue," Martin said. The FBI had no idea where these two were; the US is a big piece of real estate. In fact, they had been living quietly in San Diego for 16 months, where neighbors saw them studying a computer flight program (Microsoft Flight Simulator) that shows flight paths over Washington.
On Sept. 5, just six days before the WTC attack, the French tried once more, for the final time.
"The French told the Americans that Moussaoui was a known terrorist [who] had been on their watch list for [three] years," according to Alexis Debat, former French intelligence official. "And yet the Americans did not seem to respond to that information as much as they responded to the information pointing at a plot against the US Embassy in Paris." (ABCNews, ibid)
The FBI still denies receiving any such warnings, "and in any case, time was running out by then." It is impossible to believe the FBI "never received any warnings" and/or refused to take them seriously when most of them were coming from their own field offices and they already had "a five-inch thick" dossier on Moussaoui long before the French offer.
Most of these higher-ranking agents had received their promotions under Bill Clinton and were holdovers from those eight years of duplicity involving, among other things, Waco, Whitewater, Vince Foster death, rape allegations going far beyond the Lewinsky scandal, Travelgate, Chinagate and countless other seamy scandals, many of which the public still doesn't know. Still, that does not excuse the Bush administration's continuation of the same mentality of intimidation, cover-up and secrecy. It takes more to lay claim to an honest, decent and ethical presidency than not getting oral sex under the presidential desk. (The full story of what US agencies knew and when they knew it appears in another chapter; this one focuses primarily on the knowledge and warnings of foreign intelligence agencies.)
The French enjoyed watching the Americans wiggle and squirm, trying to explain their negligence. The greater lesson here is: show respect for your elders, or it can come back and kick you in the teeth. Most of the revelations coming from elderly sources within British, French, German and even US intelligence is coming out because, first, they were not shown the proper respect and, second, they fear their own country's future is being threatened by America's expansionist actions.
"You Americans are too greedy," one source gently admonished. "You have everything a nation could ever want, and you always want more. You don't want to make a bigger pie, you want to take all of the existing pie from everyone else. I almost pissed my pants I was so tickled when some of these stories came out. We don't hate you, we hate your arrogance, and we sincerely hope these events will help you mature and grow up in the world community, but it only looks like it's going to get worse."
Feeling somewhat defensive, I tried to make a joke and immediately regretted it. "You think the US treats you bad, you ought to see how they treat us, its own citizens."
"Well, you'd better damned well do something about it," he said sharply. "It's not our responsibility. You have to protect and safeguard your own democracy first. The US has all of Europe by the balls. We have to smile and say, 'Yes, Massah' and 'No, Massah' until we're sick of it. We can't overhaul America - only you can do that. I will promise you this - I promise you this - a lot more Americans are going to die before this is over, and I'm not talking about combat troops. I'm talking about everyday Americans who don't know and don't seem to give a rat's ass about what's going on in their own nation and in their name! I'm not advocating revolution, but by God, that might be what it takes before you wake up. Very soon, you won't have a choice. Very soon."
He must have sensed the hurt and flaring anger in my eyes, for he stopped and gently patted me on the knee. "Please understand," he said softly, "we are with you as a people, but we are not with your government. At night, I actually pray for your people to wake up. I do. Unless you do, we are all doomed. And you will find the same thing in almost every Muslim country. If this escalates, as it is and as it will do, the Arab world will no longer make that differentiation."
Even after Sept. 11, he went on, the US would not accept "credible and specific" information from French intelligence about "The Shoe Bomber," Richard Reid. "I admit, we ourselves screwed up on that one. ICTS (a French airport security firm) warned twice that Reid should be held for investigation. I don't know if at that point the 'Bush fever' was contagious or what, but their warnings were overlooked here, too. The British, though, were on the ball; they knew Reid had terrorist connections and, at least from my sources, they told the Americans, because Reid was a Brit, but the Americans continued to insist Reid was 'a lone nut.' He certainly looked the part, and he was stupid enough."
Some of this information was confirmed by a CNN report Dec. 26:
"US law enforcement authorities have found no connection between the man [Reid] and any terrorist groups."
However, as laid out in another chapter, there was plenty of evidence connecting him directly to al Qaeda.
There is (at least) one other country that had foreknowledge of 9-11 that needs to be mentioned, and that is Pakistan, our "new ally."
Pakistan's chief spy Lt. General Mahmoud Ahmad "was in the US when the attacks occurred." He arrived in the US on the 4th of September, a full week before the attacks. He had meetings at the State Department "after" the attacks on the WTC. But he also had "a regular visit of consultations" with his US counterparts at the CIA and the Pentagon during the week prior to September 11.
On the 9th of September while General Ahmad was in the US, the leader of the Northern Alliance Commander Ahmad Shah Masood was assassinated. The Northern Alliance had informed the Bush Administration that the ISI was allegedly implicated in the assassination:
The Bush Administration consciously took the decision in "the post September 11 consultations" with Lt. General Mahmoud Ahmad to directly "cooperate" with Pakistan's military intelligence (ISI) despite it links to Osama bin Laden and the Taliban and its alleged role in the assassination of Commander Masood, which coincidentally occurred two days before the terrorist attacks.
Meanwhile, senior Pentagon and State Department officials had been rushed to Islamabad to put the finishing touches on America's war plans. And on the Sunday prior to the onslaught of the bombing of major cities in Afghanistan (October 7th), Lt. General Mahmoud Ahmad was sacked from his position as head of the ISI in what was described as a routine "reshuffling."
In the days following General Ahmad's dismissal, a report published in the Times of India, revealed the links between Pakistan's Chief spy Lt. General Mahmoud Ahmad and the presumed "ring leader" of the WTC attacks Mohamed Atta. The Times of India article was based on an official intelligence report of the Delhi government that had been transmitted through official channels to Washington. Quoting an Indian government source Agence France Press (AFP) confirms in this regard that: "The evidence we [the Government of India] have supplied to the US is of a much wider range and depth than just one piece of paper linking a rogue general to some misplaced act of terrorism."
The revelation of the Times of India article has several implications. The Indian intelligence report not only points to the links between ISI Chief General Ahmad and terrorist ringleader Mohamed Atta, it also indicates that other ISI officials might have had contacts with the terrorists. Moreover, it suggests that the September 11 attacks were not an act of "individual terrorism" organised by a separate Al Qaeda cell, but rather they were part of coordinated military-intelligence operation, emanating from Pakistan's ISI.
The Times of India report also sheds light on the nature of General Ahmad's "business activities" in the US during the week prior to September 11, raising the distinct possibility of ISI contacts with Mohamed Atta in the US "prior" to the attacks on the WTC, precisely at the time when General Mahmoud and his delegation were on a so-called "regular visit of consultations" with US officials.
In assessing the alleged links between the terrorists and the ISI, it should be understood that Lt. General Ahmad as head of the ISI was a "US approved appointee". As head of the ISI since 1999, he was in liaison with his US counterparts in the CIA, the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and the Pentagon. Also bear in mind that Pakistan's ISI remained throughout the entire post Cold War era until the present, the launch-pad for CIA covert operations in the Caucasus, Central Asia and the Balkans. (emphasis added)
The existence of an "ISI-Osama-Taliban axis" was a matter of public record. The links between the ISI and agencies of the US government including the CIA are also a matter of public record. The Bush Administration was fully cognizant of Lt. General Ahmad's role. In other words, rather than waging a campaign against international terrorism, the evidence would suggest that it is indirectly abetting international terrorism, using the Pakistani ISI as a "go-between".
The Bush Administration's links with Pakistan's ISI --including its "consultations" with General Ahmad in the week prior to September 11-- raise the issue of "complicity". While Ahmad was talking to US officials at the CIA and the Pentagon, ISI officials were allegedly also in contact with the September 11 terrorists.
In other words, according to the Indian government intelligence report, the perpetrators of the September 11 attacks had links to Pakistan's ISI, which in turn has links to agencies of the US government. What this suggests is that key individuals within the US military-intelligence establishment might have known about the ISI contacts with the September 11 terrorist "ring-leader" Mohamed Atta and failed to act. ("Cover-up or Complicity of the Bush Administration? By Michael Chossudovsky, Professor of Economics at the University of Ottawa [Canada], 2 Nov. 2001)
Pakistan's $100,000 payoff to 9-11 ringleader
What The Times of India reported that had been handed over to the US was sufficiently damning to result in General Ahmad's dismissal: the general had ordered a $100,000 payment to 9-11 ringleader Mohammed Atta.
While the Pakistani Inter Services Public Relations claimed that former ISI director-general Lt-Gen Mahmoud Ahmad sought retirement after being superseded on Monday [8 October], the day the US started bombing Afghanistan], the truth is more shocking. Top sources confirmed here on Tuesday [October 9], that the general lost his job because of the "evidence" India produced to show his links to one of the suicide bombers that wrecked the World Trade Centre. The US authorities sought his removal after confirming the fact that $100,000 were wired to WTC hijacker Mohammed Atta from Pakistan by Ahmad Umar Sheikh at the instance of Gen. Mahmoud. Senior government sources have confirmed that India contributed significantly to establishing the link between the money transfer and the role played by the dismissed ISI chief. While they did not provide details, they said that Indian inputs, including Sheikh's mobile phone number, helped the FBI in tracing and establishing the link.
A direct link between the ISI and the WTC attack could have enormous repercussions. The US cannot but suspect whether or not there were other senior Pakistani Army commanders who were in the know of things. Evidence of a larger conspiracy could shake US confidence in Pakistan's ability to participate in the anti-terrorism coalition. (Times of India, Delhi, 9 October 2001)
Just two days before the Trade Center destruction, Afghanistan Northern Alliance Commander Ahmad Shah Masood (also spelled Massoud) was assassinated. In an official statement released by the Alliance:
a `Pakistani ISI-Osama-Taliban axis' [was responsible] of plotting the assassination by two Arab suicide bombers.... `We believe that this is a triangle between Osama bin Laden, ISI, which is the intelligence section of the Pakistani army, and the Taliban,' (Northern Alliance statement, 14 Sept. 2001, quoted by Reuters, 15 Sept. 2001)
Indian intelligence claims evidence that General Ahmad was personally involved in Massoud's assassination plans to help pave the way for 9-11 and that, while in the US, he personally met with Mohammed Atta while there "on business." It is no wonder, then, that India came close to crossing the "nuclear line" when al Qaeda forces in Kashmir escalated their attacks after 9-11. India had long held evidence that bin Laden had personally set up an al Qaeda unit in Kashmir. Also aware that the US had been pursuing a "containment policy" in the Balkans, the Middle East and the Caspian region, they were concerned that Kashmir was part of a similar "containment policy" designed to keep India in a state of uproar which might prevent an India-China alliance.
India's belief in this as "a possibility" was based on the US approval of General Ahmad as ISI chief, its Balkan support of bin Laden and the personal involvement of Richard Armitage. Armitage had been Reagan's Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security and "worked closely with Oliver North and was involved in the Iran-Contra arms smuggling scandal." Was Armitage, now making his comeback in the Bush administration as Deputy Secretary of State, repeating the same policy of national destabilization in India, through Kashmir? If so, India was not going to tolerate it and, being a nuclear power, was not going to be an easy pushover like Afghanistan or Sudan or Yugoslavia.
India also had previously presented intelligence information to the US, demanding US intervention in Pakistan's Kashmir state terrorism, but this information was not specifically linked to the events of 9-11 until after the fact.
Could Pakistan be the "state structure" so many intelligence agents have mentioned throughout this chapter? And could it be working in close coordination with other governments such as the US and Britain to form the "larger group seeking to reshape the world'? The group Russian economist Koryagina calls "a group of extremely powerful private persons, with total assets of about $300 trillion, [which] intends to legalize its power and to become the new world government"?
Apart from the mysterious Canadian case of US spy Mike Vreeland (described elsewhere in this book), there is evidence that Canadian intelligence had foreknowledge.
"The author Salman Rushdie believes that US authorities knew of an imminent terrorist strike when they banned him from taking internal flights in Canada and the US only a week before the attacks. ... The FAA told the author's publisher that US intelligence had given warning of 'something out there' but failed to give any further details." (London Times, 27 Sept. 2001)
So we see the concerted efforts of India, the Philippines, Sudan, Russia, France, Germany, and possibly other nations still unknown, plus warnings from flight instructors and local FBI field offices - all of them totally ignored. This was far more advance intelligence than the US had before Pearl Harbor, and it is impossible to believe the protestations from on high that "we didn't know." We did know - and deliberately chose not only to look the other way, but to close down any US investigations that edged too close to the truth, as will be outlined in more detail in another chapter.

BS! 17.Apr.2002 05:34

Jim Moore huh? How come we've never heard of you before?

This is pure BS! You haven't spoken to any intelligence sources at all. You've made them up.

Then you use quotes in the media to corroborate the claims of your "sources"

HOW come you don't even mention what kind of sources you have spoken to, how you got in contact with them...

You loose all credibility when you start talking about sources without mentioning what kind of sources and how YOU got the chance to talk to them.

The claim that you have spoken to intelligence agents from several countries discredits you right there - how many journalists would get intelligence agents from several countries to speak to them? They'd have to be agents themselves to have thse contacts.

So piss off with your bullshit!
I guess that book of yours will never be published either, and is also just one of your fantasies.
