OUR BROKEN HEALTHCARE SYSTEM, A NATIONAL DISGRACE!

On April 28th, a Sunday, we are going to have a forum combined with a benefit concert. Broadway Phil and the Shouters (great blues band) will play music as a fundraiser to help Tanya and the forum will be on OUR BROKEN HEALTHCARE SYSTEM, A NATIONAL DISGRACE. We will talk about the problem and some solutions. Politicians, Union Leaders, and Healthcare Change Activists will make presentations. And we are honored to announce that Represenative Dr. Alan Bates will be joining us for this event.

And listen to Amy Goodman's DEMOCRACY NOW!, Wed., 4/24/02, highlighting this exact same topic in very dramatic fashion: (you will need 'free' RealAudio software)

Amy is argueably and in my opinion the very best progressive/alternative journalist in this country (an idea i stole cuz i've heard it said before).

WE NEED TO RAMP THIS UP, FOLKS! THE TIME HAS COME!

Ten days ago when U.S. Senator Ron Wyden stopped in Medford, Oregon he told the townhall meeting folks that he was going to bring up "universal healthcare" for the national debate, again, something he said has been totally off the table of discussion since 1994 (my paraphrase, but what he said).

Your ideas and suggestions are sought, and all those who want to take action, are blessed. WE NEED TO RAMP THIS UP, FOLKS! THE TIME HAS COME!

Here is a background article that appeared in the Medford Mail Tribune on April 14, 2002. It explains some of the frustrating struggle which Tanya has had to wage.

Links to poverty 28.Apr.2002 08:43

Bridget

The links between lack of affordable healthcare in Oregon and homelessness and growing poverty are formidable. Did you know that many low-income people cannot find a place to live because thier credit report shows late payment on very expensive healthcare. Did you know that most working poor do not qualify for the Oregon Health plan and have very poor or no healthcare insurance. These are the people who cannot afford annual checkups and they wait until they are so sick they go to high priced emergency rooms for help.

There is an intiative petition to get a single payor system in Oregon. They need signatures to get the iniative on the ballot in the fall. See the Health Care for all Oregon website at:  http://www.healthcareforalloregon.org/

Agreed- natural hygiene and raw food 19.Dec.2005 04:41

Rose

I thoroughly agree, natural hygiene and raw food are what will save your health, not doctors or hospitals. We should all take our health into our own hands.
A good site for raw food is www.rawfoodenergy.co.uk
