Students and staff at Wellsprings Friends school have organized a unique event to promote understanding and seek alternatives to violence and war.
On SATURDAY, JANUARY 12 the Peace and Justice festival will take place from 11:00-3:00pm. It will be at WFS, which is located in the Eugene Mennonite church at 3590 West 18th avenue. The purpose of the Peace Festival is to help us visualize a more peaceful world, educate ourselves about alternative ways of living that do not breed violence and suffering. Our greatest hope is that participants will leave with a renewed sense of the goodness that still exists and that we will be inspired, that we will act!
10:45- Record spinning- Peter Hinson, a WFS student will provide music
11:20- Storytelling- Ethan Hughs-WFS staff member will lead us in visualization
12:00- War Tax resistance-Peg Morton, from the Eugene Friends mtg will share information
Capoeira- an Afro-Brazilian martial art/dance
1:00- a diverse group of local religous leaders on peace & war including rabbi Hannan Sills, a representative from Islamic community center, and others TBA
2:15- Lost Valley intentional community- Scott
