This Holiday Season give the gift of dissent!

Rally Against the Famine!

When: December 21st, Friday, 5pm
Where: Portland Oregon, Pioneer Courthouse Square

Start the winter and end the shopping season at a rally to stop the famine in Afghanistan.

The US government ignored calls from food aid organizations to stop the bombing so that food could be delivered. Now they are ignoring calls to send in UN security forces to ensure aid is distributed. This "war on terrorism" could cause millions to starve this winter, but if we can still do something to stop the genocidal.

Make a difference. Make your voice heard.

Meditation Vigil at 4:30 19.Dec.2001 19:08

Enji enji@earthlink.net

Join a meditation vigil preceding this rally. In order to change the world we must also change ourselves. Meditate as a Witness for Peace, meditate as as a Buddha for the sake of all beings.

Many causes and conditions bring about the karma of violence, and many reactions to that violence help feed and sustain it.
We must continually seek and embrace our true compassionate nature, and Buddhists have done so through meditation for over 2500 years.
Through our efforts we are better able to cease from the violence and spread compassion to the world. The more practiced we become at finding our own spacious center, the more easily we can act from a place of compassion and peace.
With this simple act we demonstrate our commitment to a better world for all beings.

Look for me with the sign "Buddhas Not Bombs".
