We're already loading up the sound system, banners and tables for our Peace Festival on this dry and sunny November morning in Salem Oregon. At 10:00am we meet at Riverfront Park, where we'll have some fun with face-painting and street theater while participating organizations set up their tables. Free parking is available on the ramp, see the attached map. Dancing will begin at about 10:30am, as local band Jawbone hits the stage. At noon, we will proceede to the capitol steps where scheduled events include a brief welcome from Mayor Mike Swaim and the larger-than-life-size puppets of Urgent Carnival. This event has been promoted all over the state, and will include delegations from Portland, Eugene, Corvallis, Monmouth and elsewhere, by the Marion-Polk Green Party, Oregon PeaceWorks, and Oregon Fellowship of Reconcilliation. Over 30 media outlets have been contacted. This is a unique opportunity for people from all over the state of Oregon to show their support for the cuase of Peace, and for an immediate cessation of the bombing in Afghanistan, and and end to the war crimes being committed by our "leadership" in Washington D.C. The sun is shining, the band is tuning up: check the map I've uploaded as your last minute guide for free parking.
