Dignity Village Updated Events

A Buddhist ceremony is being held for Dignity Villagers this evening, Sunday 9/2, and there well be a meeting tomorrow evening, 9/3.
PLEASE NOTE THESE DATES AND UPCOMING EVENTS...
•VILLAGE MOVE POSTPONED UNTIL TUESDAY, SEPT. 4TH
•EMERGENCY MEETING - DIGNITY VILLAGE SUPPORTERS!! MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 3RD,
6PM AT BOXCAR BERTHA'S

The Village's decision to hold their noses and move to the legally
sanctioned city-owned site near the airport for 60-days, despite its
rediculously remote location and concentration camp atmosphere, presents an
unparelleled challenge to both Villagers and supporters. The move has been
postponed until TUESDAY 9/4, and increased post-move logistical support
will be required to provide ongoing food, water, transportation needs of
Village residents.

Such challenges and obstacles will undoubtedly create a potential for
stress, schisms and burnout if communications break down or if too much of
the work falls on too few shoulders. Alternately, rising to these
challenges with increased solidarity, unity and mutual support can
transform even this dire situation into a powerful demonstration of the
Dignity community's undaunted good will and determination to reach our
long-term goals, by whatever means necessary.

ALL SUPPORTERS AND INTERESTED VILLAGERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND, MONDAY AT
6PM AT BOXCAR BERTHA'S (17TH AND NW LOVEJOY). Bring your creativity! Let's
plan together to demonstrate the power of community to overcome all
obstacles!

•SPECIAL CEREMONY
Sunday, September 2nd at 7:30 pm

The practicioners at the Rudrananda Ashram will perform the Chod on behalf
of the residents of Dignity Village. The Chod is a Tibetan Bhuddist ritual
practice and prayer in which offerings are made to the energies of the
universe to help pacify disturbance, obstacles and suffering, and to pray
for the peace and well being of everyone.

The practice is in two parts: first a dance is done to dispell
disturbances in the environment; then second, chanting and prayers are
made in which we visualize the offerings and ask for healing and peace. The
dance is about 45 min long. The chanting and music portion is about 30 min
long. People can come and go as they like, or sit and listen the whole
time. We would be making our prayer that the people of the village will
find some peace and ease in their circumstances. Afterwords we would be
making a food offering to
all who came.
