Alternative Media Convergence

The Alternative Media Convergence that took place from 2-6pm at Memorial Coliseum drew hundreds of people. Showcasing a divergent range of media activists and platforms, the public had an excellent opportunity to learn how to become involved with local actions, education, and events. Such organizations as Portland IndyMedia, WRAP, Cascadia Media, KBOO and many others were present. People had an opportunity to meet representatives from the various organizations and learn about the various facets of their operations. A dramatic showing of "A Year In The Street" (available from Cascadia Media) ran for about 80 minutes in the adjacent room. This film showed clips from Seattle WTO, the Democratic Convention in LA, Eugene 4:20, and many other actions of the year 2000. The event was a strong indication of the growing interest in alternative media.

And so HOW do you become involved with KBOO, IMC and the Alliance news paper???

I've been yearning to know, and i was not aware of that conference until it was too late.

Besides I would like to help these media outlits become more efficient. The Alliance reported that nothing happened at the Portland solidarity protest for Genoa on July 20th. Two people were arrested, one person hospitalized and many injured after a police charge.
Come out this monday at noon!!!!! Pioneer sq for the police brutality in Genoa and here!
