The latest Shortwave Report (June 15) is up on the web. (13.6MB/29:48). This 30 minute weekly program is always free to rebroadcast upon notification. If you only air a portion of the show, please mention the website so your audience will know where they can find the complete program. I truly appreciate your comments and questions. This week's show begins with 3 stories from Radio Netherlands- corruption scandals continue to blossom in Peru; mudslides kill many in Ecuador; and a Spanish citizen returns home from death row in the US just as Bush Jr begins his tour of Europe. From Radio Deutsche Welle- an opinion piece on the execution of Timothy McVeigh; Bush's claim that Europe is "warming up" to Star Wars is questioned; the Dutch abortion boat heads out for Ireland with much controversy; Germany's government signs a formal agreement to close down the nuclear industry over the next 20 years. From China Radio International- a report on the Japanese response to the US rejection of the Kyoto Protocol; former US defense Minister Robert MacNamara criticizes the US unilateral actions, both military and environmental. The Voice of Russia has a commentary on Juniors statement that the anti-ballistic missle treaty (ABM) is an "outdated relic." Radio Havana Cuba offers a viewpoint on why Bush chose Spain as a starting point for his Euro-tour, and a news report on Columbia, where a prisoner exchange does not indicate a true peace accord is near at hand. All these stories and views plus times and frequencies for listening to international news on a shortwave radio. The next show will be up next Friday June 22 by 9amPDST. ?FurthuR!
