Dalai Lama-CIA in California

The Dalai Lama is now doing his CIA tour in Northern California, making the front page of the Republican newspaper of record of Northern California, the San Francisco Chronicle of May 17, 2001. He was wined and dined at the swanky Fairmont Hotel in San Jose and appeared at various charity rackets. Even if you knew nothing about the Dalai Lama, you should know that anyone who gets such favorable publicity from the capitalist press is no friend of any progressive community.

As to the Dalai Lama's background, yes, the Dalai Lama is also anti-women, the twin evil of homophobia. All the superstitious attitudes against women in poor societies existed in Tibet, with the active encouragement of the Dalai Lama. In the feudal era of Tibet, the time of enrichment of the Dalai Lama family, marriage was by permission of the master of the estate. Women serfs were often raped, families were broken up, and a lord could use women serfs as "temporary wives." Polygyny, a wealthy man with many wives and polyandry, a woman was forced to be the wife to several brothers in land-poor noble families, were common in the Dalai Lama's Tibet.

As to Mao Tse-Tung, this writer has no particular love for Mao and is well aware of the horrors revealed in the book by his medical doctor, Dr. Li Zhisui, The Private Life of Chairman Mao. The weaknesses of Mao's political theories are well-known and cannot be supported. It is also true that China did advance from 1949 to 1976 because of the revolution of 1949, led by Mao Tse-Tung. The advances in terms of literacy, increased life expectancy, reduced infant mortality and all other social indicators cannot be disputed.

Mao should have resigned from office at age 60 (1953) and rested on his laurels as a war hero, which is what he was. He was not a good political leader. In fact, this writer believes everyone should be required to retire at age 60, with full pension as no one should live in poverty. If they wish to do volunteer work, they may do so. I see this over and over again. People who provided leadership when they were younger can not continue at the same level of leadership after age 60. It is also a means of allowing the next generation to take over as smoothly as possible, and to bring new ideas into practice.

We must ask, why is the ruling class promoting the Dalai Lama at this time? The answer is obviously to create anti-Chinese hostility to bolster George Bush's war efforts against China. This is a capitalist society, where maximization of profit is the primary law. The greatest profits are in military hardware. The war machine has now turned its focus on China. There are many problems with the government of China, but supporting the Dalai Lama will not solve any problems, it will make them worse, for the Dalai Lama is bought and paid for by the CIA.

"Even if you knew nothing about the Dalai Lama, you should know that anyone who gets such favorable publicity from the capitalist press is no friend of any progressive community. "

so basically you are promoting ignorance?

As for all of the money, the Dalai Lama's trip to Portland was set up by the tibetan community of Portland. They are trying to build a Tibetan center in Portland. The proceeds from the tickets went towards the center.

The Dalai Lama is promoting war with China with his message of non-violence and tolerance. Anyone that clever is very dangerous and merits close scrutiny.

Hey, What type of F*cked up B.S. propaganda are you trying to spread? Have you ever heard the Dalai Lama speak? The Kundun asks for freedom of Tibetan cultural and religious society and wishes for the end to the IMPRISONMENTS, EXEECUTIONS, AND GENOCIDES that are being committed against the Tibetans for practicing BHUDDISM. He does not in any way call for or condone military action against China, but wishes for peace and unity between the two countries, and healing of "old" wounds that have and are being cut into the Tibetan people. Your belief that a man of who works democracy and for world peace calling for war is f*cking rediculous, just like YOUR belief that a simple bhuddist monk would be "wining and dining" with the C.I.A. I think that you are nothing more than an ignorant fool who needs to open their eyes to the real workings of the world and I feel deeply sorry for you.

Interesting Question. 18.May.2001 14:29

Jeff

You bring up an interesting question, but ultimately sound like some paranoid radical who is short on knowledge and well-reasoned thinking and high on emotion and maybe dope.

Powerful people cultivate, wine and dine anyone who can increase their own power, visibility or achieve their goals. They don't often care who the people are, as long as they can get what they want.

Thus, just because so-called "powerful" people and the capitalist establishment are involved in the Dalai Lama's visit, doesn't mean that he is secretly involved with them anymore than they really care what he has to say. Maybe they realize the general public likes listening or seeing the Dalai Lama, and they see it as a possible money-making or publicity opportunity for themselves.

Everyone is part of the capitalist establishment whether they like it or not. How can anyone survive without being involved in capitalism in corporations even if its in some small way?

I always am surprised how many eco-activitists own cars. Who built that car and where does the gas come from? Does that mean the eco-activists are secretly involved with General Motors and the Nazis, or the CIA? Of course not.
