"MILLION VOTER MARCH"
Northwest activists are preparing to converge on San Francisico on May 19th for a "Million Voter March" to demonstrate for democratic voting rights. Communities all across the country will be participating in marches and rallies as a result of last year's presidential election results. At issue are the fact that Vice President
Al Gore won the popular vote, the elimination of the electoral college, campaign finance reform, and institutional racism.
Delegations in San Francisco will include activists from Washington and Oregon who will be marching to represent their states. Local protest efforts are being coordinated with the national Votermarch.org website(www.votermarch.org) firstname.lastname@example.org.
Contact the Committee For Government Accountability for information on the Washington state delegation.
Two major convergences are planned for Washington, DC and San Francisico. Organizers expect to bring out a million people in cities and towns across America to march and rally for voting rights. Groups involved in the events include pro-democracy, election reform, student, environmental, civil rights, women's and gay/lesbian rights organizations, as well as many community and neighborhood groups and the Green Party.
