Dalai Lama is CIA

The Dalai Lama is bought and paid for by the CIA and should never be honored by any progressive community. He is also well-known for his homophobic remarks. His entire existence is parasitic, as is the nature of all religion. This was particular horrific in feudal Tibet. This has nothing to do with any criticism one may have of the current government in China, which commenced its renewed capitalist road in 1976, and made it official with the installation of the stock exchange in Shanghai in 1986.

This has nothing to do with any criticism one may have of the current government in China, which commenced its renewed capitalist road in 1976, and made it official with the installation of the stock exchange in Shanghai in 1986. The horrors of the serfdom promoted by the Dalai Lama are well documented. He was the biggest serf owner in Tibet. He owned the whole country and everyone in it. His family directed 27 manors, 36 pastures, 6,170 field serfs and 102 house slaves. When he first fled to India in 1950, he sent ahead several hundred mule-loads of gold and silver bars for his economic security. This of course represents the stolen labor of the Tibetan people. The people of Tibet lived in abject poverty. One book on the CIA in Tibet is The Making of Modern Tibet by A. Tom Grunfeld, Zed Books, 1987. The Dalai Lama is a fascist and thus can never bring peace.

It's so easy to blame everything, isn't it?

it's so easy for the u.s. to blame china for any wrongdoing off the bat, without even looking at the safety of its own chinese and chinese-american citizens.

This guy's CIA links are clearly proven, there is no doubt about that. Also, the point is true that he seems to be living pretty comfortable without any toil. I have read his remarks about homosexuality, and he is to the right of Dr. Laura..same in regards to a woman's role in society..

Just goes to show, you hear what you want to hear and you see what you want to see. Oh well, in spite of this guy's weirdness I hope that some of the folks who attend bring home something good.

We must never feel that it is inappropriate to question the integrity of any leader, and if they were a true leader, they would welcome the questioning.

little red books & strange bedfellows 12.May.2001 13:12

"Dalai Lama is CIA" reads like a quote right out of someone's Little Red Book. It reminds me of some of the stuff that was going up on Indymedia when Kostunica beat out Milosevic in the Serbian elections and the only thing that extracted Milosevic from power was a general uprising. A lot of Western socialists and communists cried "CIA foul play" and suddenly took to parroting Milosevic's propaganda and standing up for a man who was, by any account, hardly the ideal socialist even during the days of Yugoslav socialism, and was by all accounts a power-mad dictator. This idea that any enemy of the West is an ally to international socialism puts you in bed with some very strange bedfellows. I agree that it is good to be critical of any object of hero-worship or personality-cult. But in this case, any screaming, Mao-placard-waving Chinese cultural revolutionary from about 1972 couldn't have spoken more clearly. Justice's arguments form the basis of the Chinese government's justification for the military occupation of Tibet. Is Mao the man you want to get in bed with, Justice? And does your idea of worldwide socialism come at the price of the extinction of regional cultures that dissent?

Some people can find problems with everyone. If people can find a sense of spiritual well-being and inner peace through the Dalai Lama, I think that's a step in the right direction. Peace out!

"Justice" is an Idiot 13.May.2001 20:14

Yes, the people of Tibet were pawns of the CIA. Herbert Marcuse also worked for the CIA precursor organization. Do you consider Marcuse a fascist?

Please document D.L.'s homophobic remarks, otherwise you spew baseless accusations. You seem like you're filled with a lot of hate. To pick on the Dalai Lama like this is indicitive of a trivial consciousness.

Yes, D.L. is backwards on women's rights and he is quite conservative as a kind of Pope of Buddhism. But I think you have to contextualize this in terms of the place he comes from and all the good words he says. Did you hear him criticise US Foreign policy today "Justice"? That might be too much for you.

The Dalai Lama is a fascist? You're an idiot and wouldn't know fascism if it kicked in your front door.

What a Spy! 14.May.2001 07:30

Disguised as a reincarnated enlightened being, bringing a message of tolerance, compassion, and nonviolence...it's the perfect cover. Who would have thought of it? What a spy! Thank you for that masterful bit of spy tracking, Justice.

$120 meals 15.May.2001 10:26

I have yet to do any legitimate research on the Dolly Lamma, but last night I was discussing the issue with a Korean small business owner who said she personally lost respect for him when she was reading about his extravagent $120 meals. She contrasted this with Mother Theresa who truely practiced what she preached.

My perspective is this: don't buy wholeheartedly into any religion. If the DL gives you inspiring words, great. Take those, use them, and leave. If the Pope gives you inspiring words, great. If Barney the Dinosaur gives you inspiring words, great.

It's not the messenger that matters, it's the message.

Dalai Lama-CIA in California 17.May.2001 07:38

The Dalai Lama is now doing his CIA tour in Northern California, making the front page of the Republican newspaper of record of Northern California, the San Francisco Chronicle on May 16, 2001. He was wined and dined at the swanky Fairmont Hotel in San Jose and appeared at various charity rackets. Even if you knew nothing about the Dalai Lama, you should know that anyone who gets such favorable publicity from the capitalist press is no friend of any progressive community.

As to the Dalai Lama's background, yes, the Dalai Lama is also anti-women, the twin evil of homophobia. All the superstitious attitudes against women in poor societies existed in Tibet, with the active encouragement of the Dalai Lama. In the feudal era of Tibet, the time of enrichment of the Dalai Lama family, marriage was by permission of the master of the estate. Women serfs were often raped, families were broken up, and a lord could use women serfs as "temporary wives." Polygyny, a wealthy man with many wives and polyandry, a woman was forced to be the wife to several brothers in land-poor noble families, were common in the Dalai Lama's Tibet.

As to Mao Tse-Tung, this writer has no particular love for Mao and is well aware of the horrors revealed in the book by his medical doctor, Dr. Li Zhisui, The Private Life of Chairman Mao. The weaknesses of Mao's political theories are well-known and cannot be supported. It is also true that China did advance from 1949 to 1976 because of the revolution of 1949, led by Mao Tse-Tung. The advances in terms of literacy, increased life expectancy, reduced infant mortality and all other social indicators cannot be disputed.

Mao should have resigned from office at age 60 (1953) and rested on his laurels as a war hero, which is what he was. He was not a good political leader. In fact, this writer believes everyone should be required to retire at age 60, with full pension as no one should live in poverty. If they wish to do volunteer work, they may do so. I see this over and over again. People who provided leadership when they were younger can not continue at the same level of leadership after age 60. It is also a means of allowing the next generation to take over as smoothly as possible, and to bring new ideas into practice.

We must ask, why is the ruling class promoting the Dalai Lama at this time? The answer is obviously to create anti-Chinese hostility to bolster George Bush's war efforts against China. This is a capitalist society, where maximization of profit is the primary law. The greatest profits are in military hardware. The war machine has now turned its focus on China. There are many problems with the government of China, but supporting the Dalai Lama will not solve any problems, it will make them worse, for the Dalai Lama is bought and paid for by the CIA.

What, a homophobic man in a dress? 20.May.2001 10:39

Harry Lime

Ever wondered why the Tibetans never had a female Dalai Lama? Does it surprise anyone that the Dalai Lama is homophobic?

Hey, if you shaved David Duke's head, put him in robe, and had him extol the four noble truths you'd find a lot of Hollywood types would follow him as well. Fuck the Dalai Lama.  http://www.harrylimetv.com

I have known the DL personally for many years, its not as simple as that , folks.

Yes there was/is involvement with the CIA but that is a long story, suffice it to say that the CIA supported the
Khampa resistance in Tibet.

I am neither a Tibetan nor a Dharma fanatic/Buddhist. and I know all about the contradictions in the
Tibetan view of things.

Before making judgements one should know exactly what the facts are.

That, in the case of the DL , is impossible without first hand knowledge.

There is so much more to this guy than meets the eye.
