3:20 p.m.--March is at Senator Wyden's office. Radical cheerleaders have made a joyful noise at each stop.

3:13 p.m.--March has crossed to east side of river and is heading north on NE Third. They are headed for Senator Wyden's office.

2:56 p.m.--March is pausing 1/3 of the way across bridge for a speech.

2:49 p.m.--March begins crossing Burnside Bridge

2:44 p.m.--Crowd at Diamond Parking, 2nd & Pine, and has paused for a speech.

2:40 p.m.--March turning West up Oak from Front Street, heading toward Diamond Parking. Earlier this year, Diamond Parking had fired or harrassed workers who were trying to unionize, Juan Martinez among them. Jobs With Justice and other activists had successfully forced Diamond to hire them back. Workers there are seeking a living wage. [ More on Diamond Parking ]

2:34 p.m.--March is taking up four solid blocks at this point and continues to grow. Has reached Morrison and Front.

2:24 p.m.--March has just left Pope & Talbot. Speech there dealt with this Portland company's purchase of Canadian timber, the price of which undercuts American prices and threatens jobs here.

2:13 p.m.--March has left the World Trade Center; is at 1st & Main.

2:09 p.m.--March is at 1st and Front Street, near fountain and World Trade Center. Crowd has gathered here at World Trade Center to tell Oregon Senator Gordon Smith to "do the right thing". Smith, whose office is here, owns the Smith's grocery store chain, which has been accused of abusing workers' rights. Size of crowd here estimated at nearly 1000. Cops are behind march, and flanking, but no trouble from them yet of any sort. This is a permitted march, and all is going well so far.

2:03 p.m.--March has reached World Trade Center. Pause for speech by Joanne Bowman.

2:00 p.m.--March is at 3rd and Salmon.

1:56 p.m.--March has reached NikeTown (6th & Salmon) and has paused for speeches.

1:46 p.m.--March of about 200 people has begun to move south down Broadway. Pioneer Square is now almost entirely empty. Tentative route for the march includes Niketown, Pope & Talbot, the World Trade Center, Diamond Parking, and Made in Oregon.

1:26 p.m.--Lincoln High (16th & Salmon)--8 cops cars, about 4 cops to a car, a van with another ten or so. MAX train has been stopped and commuters are being relayed by bus.

1:13 p.m.--Two ATVs are at Yamhill and Park. March from Square expected to begin soon.

12:28 p.m.--200-300 people are gathered in the square, and speeches have begun. Cops are present on bikes and ATVs. According to an unconfirmed rumour, police back-up is at Lincoln High School.

Noon--Military helicopter goes overhead.

11:40 a.m.--Ten bike cops seen heading toward square, south on SW Fourth, at Stark.

9:30 a.m.--The Teamsters semi has parked in Pioneer Square. Organizers are gathering.
