School of the Americas Watch
Portland, Oregon VIGIL & SPEAK OUT
this Sunday, November 19th beginning at 4:30 PM
at the South Park Blocks SW Yamhill and Park Ave

bring Candles and Warm Clothes as we walk silently to the
Terry Schrunk Plaza located at 3rd and Madison. We will
be hearing from community members who have been involved with the
campaign to close the School of the Americas - a School responsible for
training paramilitary and latin american goverments with a history of
human rights abuse and murder.

We will be rallying in solidarity with the over 75 Oregonians who are
attending the annual SOA Watch Demonstrations, Procession and Vigil at Ft Benning
in Columbus Georgia. Hear up to the minute reports from what is happening
at this year's rally, stories from the front line of direct action, and the
interfaith solidarity events happening over the weekend.

At 12:15 PM at the First Unitarian Church of Portland (12th and SW Salmon) the UU Young Adult
Group will be showing a film about the School of the Americas. To learn more, come see the film
and discuss it afterwards with community folks. You can also visit www.soaw.org which has excellent
references.

Special thanks to the Catholic Worker, University of Portland SOA activists, Portland UU
Young Adult Group and the Portland Central American Solidarity Coalition for helping make
this event possible. If you have any questions, please contact Lewis & Clark student and
Unitarian Universalist activist Emilty Coulter at 503-768-8560 or  ecoulter@lclark.edu. You can get updates on the Oregonians in Georgia by calling the Catholic Worker House at 503-285-1842.
