Join NW RAGE activists and other outraged citizens in a peaceful, creative protest against Starlink Corn and other Genetically Engineered Foods...
What: Massive demonstration against Starlink corn and other transgenic foods.
Where: Fred Meyer, S.E. 39th and Hawthorne, Portland.
When: Saturday, November 18, 2000, 11 AM to 1 PM (we will meet at 10:45 AM on the street behind the store)
Why: Genetically modified 'Starlink' corn, unapproved for human consumption, has turned up in hundreds of products nationwide, including Fred Meyer taco shells and corn chips, according to the FDA.
Join NW RAGE and NWBAC as we alert the public and continue our campaign to pressure Fred Meyer and other food retailers to provide safe, GMO-free food to their customers.
We also seek to discourage the EPA from issuing a dangerous temporary approval for Starlink, currently under petition. The short comment period is open to the public, so be sure to send in your letter to the EPA, commenting on this proposal (see sample letter at http://www.nwrage.org/EPAcomment.html )!
Bring your banners, costumes, kids and friends!
